A question about : Where to exchange 100 euro notes !!

Hi I hope someone can help. My son has just arrived back from visiting his dad in Spain ( his dads spanish). His dad has given him 1000 euros in 100 euro notes. We have been to a travel agent and they wont accept them as they said they are too hard to sell. I went to my own bank to pay them into my account for him but they dont deal in foreign currency ! Any one got any ideas please. I have a 15 year old son who is bursting to buy himself an xbox one and a phone lol xxx

  • Do you have an exchange bureau near you, rather than a travel agent? Have you tried your main post office?
  • Hi balletshoes. The only exchange bureau is within the travel agents that we tried today. I never thought about the post office. I will try them.
    Thankyou
  • Any supermarket bureau will take them.
You should be looking at about Ј720 at the minimum (1.39 buy back rate). Hopefully a bit more if you find a better rate (the lower the better as it will be 1000/buy back rate). Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys are all Travelex run in partnership with each supermarket's finance department and they have slightly different rates. They should have updated their rates for the entire weekend now.
Oh and if you have any Tesco clubcard vouchers they have xbox ones and the games in their clubcard boost scheme at the moment.
  • Thanks James. Very handy to know on the xbox !
