A question about : Where can I buy a Gym(combination) locker for under 3 pounds?

Is 3 pounds or so for a padlock from 'the Gym group' a good deal?

Also are combination locks better than conventional lock with a key? I imagine resetting a combination lock isn't the hardest thing in the world and also there's a risk with a conventional lock that somebody else might have exactly the same lock as me !

Best answers:

  • I imagine you can get something cheaper online, though postage might make it the same price. Have look at a local hardware store or supermarket.
As for combination vs key: personal preference, I think. Though remember that a key will then have to be carried with you while you workout. There are ways to deal with that, but something to remember. I would have thought that any lock that's reasonably sturdy and cannot just be pulled apart or easily sawn open will do. Do you have a particular problem with theft at your gym? At every gym I've ever used people have put stuff in lockers without locking it (though not me, I must admit).
  • i use a lock with a key, and keep the key on a lanyard some times round my neck sometimes in my pocket.
  • Boots do those combination locks. No idea how much they cost though.
  • There's a combo luggage lock in Poundland at the moment - I'm not sure if it will be large enough for you, its in the DIY section. It is very much like the Antler combo locks: https://www.dooyoo.co.uk/travel-acces...bination-lock/ is the kind of thing.
  • there was a combination lock that i thought i saw in mens health magazine but i must have dreamt that after looking! combination are way forward (just in case you lose key etc...)
  • I could chew through a Ј3 pad lock!
  • Key locks are a faff. Ј3 for a combination lock doesn't seem unreasonable. LA fitness are banging combi locks out for a tenner.
  • Have used a 4 number combination lock for years and find it preferable to carrying a key.
However, at Total Fitness for the last few years they have had signs up saying that the advice from the police is not to use these locks, I have chosen not to take that advice.
