A question about : what is a "gift" classed as?
Hello
Im trying to claim council tax benefir and they want 2 months bank statements. My dad gives me Ј100 per week (lucky me i know!) will they take this into consideration for benefirs ie tax credits and council tax?
sorry if this is classed as another post although a different question
Best answers:
- i think it was be classed as income of some sort and your benefits will be adjusted accordingly.
in a way you will have an 'income' of 100x52=Ј5,200 per annum
best if you can get him to pay you in cash or state it is a loan of some sort - I'm sure there was a court case recently that decided that such gifts were to be disregarded for benefit purposes. Anyone got a link?
- johnllew,
This was discussed on snow_queen's other thread HERE
For Council Tax Benefit however, all income has to be declared.
