A question about : What game are you currently playing?

As the title says, what game are you working on at the moment? Your favourite MMO or a new console game? Maybe even a retro blast from the past?

I'm currently playing Infamous 2, and taking breaks to play a bit of Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes.

Starting last August I went on a bit of a Diablo 3 spree, clocking up around 500 hours total title=EEK!. Ended up quitting once I got my Hardcore Wizard up to level 60 as I felt like I'd won by that stage.

I've just finished a 3 month trip down memory lane playing the 2007 old school version of RuneScape (Started playing back in 2005 and quit in 2010). But I decided in the end that I just don't want to devote that much time to a single game, and started back up on my PS3 again as the excitement over the PS4 has got me wanting to get my backlog of PS3 games finished.

Best answers:

  • I'm playing The Last of Us at the moment. Well, when I can, it's not easy with a 2 year old and a Mrs who have exclusive use of the TV between 7am and 10pm
  • The Last Of Us.
Completed the main campaign on normal and I've moved on to multiplayer. When I've completed one "story" in multiplayer I'm gonna go back to the campaign on Survivor.
Some of the things that impressed me about the game:
You have many options. You can choose your own path within each level and which ever tactics you like. (mostly - sometimes you can't)
I know other games do this too but as the story is such a huge feature of this game I didn't think it was going to be possible!
I was reading a walk through of a level I'd just completed and the person who wrote the walk through went a whole other way! It feels so open world even though it's not.
The sounds. The graphics are great, sure, it's probably the prettiest game for the PS3. But the sounds are incredible. For example walking under something and the sound of the rain changing. Little details. But the gameplay relies very heavily on sound too. And it ties in wonderfully. You're constantly listening because you never know when it's safe and the only warning you'll have is sound so because you're so in tune to what you're hearing it makes these subtle sounds all the more effective.
The acting. It's not the first time a game has had decent actors. But my God they do a fantastic job. It's incredible acting! It's like seriously amazing acting! I knew it would be good but I didn't know it'd be this good.
The gore. It's over VERY quickly (https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8221/8262 ... 17b5_o.png) so it's not ridiculous. But it's there. And it's fricking scary. I mean, I'm not just scared because a video game character might die and then respawn. Not exactly horrifying. I'm scared because this thing is going to RIP OUT THE TENDONS OF HIS NECK F**KING HELL THAT'S GNARLY!!! Yknow? Scary!
Being shot. You don't flinch like in other games. You GET SHOT LIKE OH MY GOD I GOT SHOT I AM ON THE FLOOR sort of thing. It's incredible! I never even knew I hated the fake !!! being shot reactions til I saw a good one!
So yeah, I'm on multiplayer at the moment and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. The communication between players is excellent. Everyone wants to help each other out. Once you die you can watch the action from stationary CCTV cameras dotted about the place. So if you have a mic you can be all "he's in the truck, no, behind you. Yep. Keep going. Ok watch out there's a sniper on the roof!" it's awesome! WAY superior to Uncharted's rubbish multiplayer (in my opinion).
  • I've got The Last of Us on my rental queue at the moment and it does sound awesome. Looking forward to playing it. Just had an email from LoveFilm telling me that Sly Cooper 4 has just been dispatched and will arrive tomorrow. I loved the first 3 so really looking forward to getting stuck into it.
  • I tend to rotate which games I'm playing.
I'm quite far into Bioshock 2 (and have Bioshock Infinite waiting), Halo: Reach and LA Noire.
Also have a few campaigns ongoing on various iterations of Empire, Napoleon and Shogun 2: Total War.
There's only a handful of games that have really grabbed me and made me play without interruption (aside from the obvious interruptions like work, sleep, food etc. ).
  • Been playing quite a bit of a DOTA 2 Beta, great fun with friends, play BF3 and 2, MW2 and Guild Wars 2.
Mainly on the shooters though.. practicing taking down choppers with Smaw/RPG7.2
    Great craic!
  • Just finished my degree so can get back on the xbox! Ive gone back to finish LA Noire and will play far cry 3 next, providing the hubby doesn't trade it in before I get a chance!
  • Slowly working my way through a season on F1 2012, also liking the walking dead.
  • Far Cry 3 is awesome don't let him trade it in! It's probably the scariest game I've ever played. You NEVER feel safe.
LA Noire is what I'm going back to after I'm done with TLOU (unless Beyond Two Souls is out by then!)
  • Currently in my rotation are:
    PC:
    WOW
    Football Manager
Settlers (2) - the newer ones are rubbish by comparison
    Civ II
    Trade wars
    Children of the Nile
    Mobile:
    Hobbit
    Backgammon
    random puzzles
Think thats about it for now.
I do wish to point out I do not play all these games every week - I do have a job to hold down lol
    Niv
  • Completed Batman Arkham City (again) over the weekend - now off to hunt for Riddler trophies!!
Someday I'll finally complete Final Fantasy 7 and/or an Elder Scrolls game - I always get x% into them and then forget about them!
  • Xcom on the iPad.
  • Finished The Last Of Us, starting to play through again on New Game +. Bit frustrated that you can only replay on the same or lower difficulty level, I'd have liked to have played hard on my continuation game (now my 'Joel' has been upgraded!).
It's been the best game I've played in quite a while, good graphics, ace storyline, and great characterisation...I actually felt anxious at the points in the game where you're separated from Ellie.
  • On my PC.
Replaying Dishonored plus Knife of Dunwall. Love it!
Finally finishing off Modern Warfare 3 single-player campaign on Veteran.
    Kerbal Space Program.
I dip in & out of Skyrim & Fallout:New Vegas as the mood takes me.
    Next to play:
    Crysis 3.
    Far Cry 3.
    Spec Ops: The Line.
  • I also wish new game plus would be unlocked for all difficulties. I think it would make Survivor a lot less daunting!
