A question about : What is the best bargain game you ever bought?

I picked up a copy of Enslaved for a fiver in a Blockbusters closing down sale bargain bucket and it turned out to be absolutely amazing.
It's like The Last of Us without the zombies.
Great game play, amazing story.
I loved it.
If only every game going for a fiver was as good!
What's the best bargain you ever got.
Happy to include hardware!

Best answers:

  • xcom enemy unknown new for a fiver on PS3 from tesco. Not played it yet though.
  • I've had many good deals with games. But i think the best was when i got the THQ pack from steam for Ј15.
Which included all the dawn of war games, Company of heres + expansions, Saints Row, Darksiders, the Red Faction collection, and some other games
  • Humble bundles on PC have been awesome over the years (less so this year)
The best one has got to be the EA bundle last year
Battlefield 3, dead space 1 & 3, Crysis 2 max, burnout paradise, mirrors edge, medal of honor, sims 3 for about Ј3. I could hear console gamers sobbing that night.
Alan wake games for a penny weren't bad (I paid 69p for steam keys though), and overlord + expans
    Another bundle for Ј3 was
    Darksiders
Company of Heroes + Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor Expansions
    Red Faction Armageddon
    Metro 2033
    Saints Row: The Third
And the 2k bundle for about Ј3 was a cracker too containing stuff like bioshock 1 and 2, darkness 2 etc
However the best was xcom enemy unknown, which was free from good man gaming the other month. I have a rule of never spending more than Ј5 on a game, and pretty much every game I've wanted to play has hit that mark. Nearly bought assassins creed black flag for Ј6.66 when on offer but I've got that much in my catalogue to play it will hit 99p well before then!
    Long live PC gaming!
  • anything on steam sales tbh
  • In terms of time spent per money paid, my top bargains are Super Hexagon (50p), Terraria (Ј2.49) and Fallout3: Game of the Year edition (Ј3.75), it's great with Steam sales being able to pay pennies for a game so if it's not up to much no problem but for a few, they're the real gems that you get a lot of playtime out of.

  • Can't say anything containing Rogue Warrior was a bargain, that game was monumentally bad!
Think I'd be tempted to go with the EA humble bundle last year, Ј1 and I got C&C Red Alert, BF3 & Sims 3 along with a bunch of other stuff, granted I won't play Sims 3 but that was cracking value.
Steam Sales as well, too much on there which given half the chance I'd go for, but I usually have enough self control to avoid it being too bad!!
  • Fallout 3 GOTY - Ј5 Boom.
  • Lots and lots and lots of steam games, but that's easy...
Medieval II: Total War Collectors edition, unopened, from a charity shop. Was on sale for 2:50 but I gave them a fiver for it. Sure there's loads of them on ebay for around that but it is rare to see anything like that in a charity shop.
  • Interesting that Steam and Playstation Plus are such good offerings.
You'd think they were trying to change behaviour or something!
Once we only buy games online, they'll have a strangle on the market and there won't be a second-hand games market either.
You wont even be able to lend a game to your friend.
    Good for the short-term though...
  • Fallout3 99p
  • Mass Effect 1 & 2 for about Ј3.50 from a Steam sale.
Company of Heroes Gold Edition for Ј3.74 from a Steam sale.
That EA humble bundle deal from a while back that was about Ј6 for 9 games or something.
Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition for a fiver, again from a Steam sale.
Oh and Theme Hospital recently on an Origin sale, for less than a quid, just for some good old nostalgia.
I generally shove Ј50 in my Steam wallet at the start of the Christmas Sale and see what I can get hold of. I'm not sure I'll be doing it this year though as spent quite a bit lately on a new gaming PC and a new laptop, and most of the stuff I'm interested in probably won't be on sale for particularly good offers.
