A question about : What are You Making For Dinner Tonight ?

Hi I know that there is a what have you baked today, what is in your slow cooker today and the weekly meal planner threads already but there does not seem to be a What are cooking for dinner tonight thread.

I just wondered if anyone would like to join me in this perhaps we can get tips and inspiration from each other.

To start us off I am doing Homemade chilli with spicy wedges today

I have made a huge vat of chilli there is enough for the four of us to have 4 meals so will be freezing three lots later on. title=Smile

Best answers:

  • Sausages, cauliflower cheese and jackets for those who want them - I won't bother with the jackets as trying to cut down now.
Something quick and simple and different to the other stuff we've had over the past fortnight.
Most of the week is going to be freezer surprise - in fact most of January is.
  • We're having roast chicken, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, stuffing with brussel sprouts and carrots. I wanted to use up the stuffing and pigs in blankets in the freezer before I go back to work and back on the healthy plan I'm really looking forward to getting back to healthy eating, I feel huge and bloated
  • Spanish Chicken with rice and garlic bread.
  • Hi
    Thanks for the replies,
I am also looking forward to getting back to normal eating as everything at this time of year is rich and fattening,
I am actually craving fresh fruit at the moment.
  • .................................................. .
  • I made sausage casserole last week in the slowcooker and have 5 portioned up in the freezer, well only 4 'cos one is thawing out on the worktop for tonight.
  • I've taken some bockwurst out of the freezer for tonights dinner but not sure what I'm going to be cooking them with yet. Pretty limited on the veg front - I think I've got carrots, swede, onions and potatoes in the fridge and peas in the freezer. Might do a carrot & swede mash but that means that I shouldn't really do mashed spuds too. Maybe lyonnaise potatoes, if I can remember how my mum used to do them!
  • Left over tuna pasta bake for the kids. Will be making a veg bake for OH and me to use up some other left overs.
  • Whoopsied chicken breasts wrapped in bacon with cheese (co-op), new potatoes, LO swede mash (that I forgot to serve with the roast the other day!) and frozen veg. Maybe with cheese sauce...
Good thread idea. My DH had one on his airgun forum and was always bragging about our meals!
  • This sounds like a great idea for a thread - I'm always up for talking about food!
I've got venison meatballs in mulled wine sauce - I made a double portion before Christmas as a way to use up a bottle of mulled wine I got on special offer and decided I didn't much like as a drink, and have just taken the second portion out of the freezer. It will be served with buttered savoy cabbage and some HM bread to mop up the sauce.
  • Bernard Matthews turkey breast roast (OH bought it cos he loves it and I never buy it!) with roasties, veg and gravy
  • Cod steaks in parsley sauce with new potatoes and green beans. Followed by apple pie and custard for OH and a WW chocolate brownie for me if I fancy it.
  • Hi
I've got some salmon pieces out of the freezer but not sure what to do with them yet !!
    Jen
  • Tonight I am cooking Beef Madras with Rice, using the leftover beef from last nights meal. OH is already licking her lips as she loves a good home made curry.
  • pheasant stew here, was free meat so nice cheap tea
  • fish fingers, chips and beans.
Not very OS but OH and I have some weird tummy bug and are completely roast dinnered out. Comforting nursery food, and both of us enjoyed it unlike some of the meal's we've had in the last week
  • Home made chilli and jacket potatoes, first time of making the chilli from scratch but if it tastes as good as it smells it should be just grand!
  • Very simple and basic meal for us tonight - HM carrot soup with a little bit of bread on the side. Littlest DS is going to have two boiled eggs and soldiers as not convinced he'll eat the soup. Reasonably healthy and costs pennies to make.
We've eaten so much rich, unhealthy food over Christmas that it's time to start cutting down and eating a bit better. Loving this thread as I often struggle for inspiration what to cook!
