A question about : Weekly Flylady Thread 23rd February 2015

I thought I'd do the lists a little different this week to enable more of us to feel we had achieved something and with spring approaching; each day will give you some basic flying, some deep cleaning choices and some decluttering choices. As ever feel free to pick and mix what needs doing for you according to your ability and time.

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thank you Natty for last week's thread

Every room comes back around next week so please don't stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

Give anything stainless steel a really good shine - I bet you've just found a product especially for this title=Wink

Decluttering
Sort out a hotspot
Sort out all your vases - are there any to rehome
Do you have any pet pest control you may need for when the bugs awaken?

Decluttering

Decluttering
Is that pile still on your landing?
Sort out the airing cupboard rehoming anything you had forgotten was in there
Declutter one of your 'products' onto your body/face/hands as appropriate and have HH me time
Another HH on paperwork, lots of people don't have council tax or water bills to pay this month (usually 10/12 payments). Can you save any of this extra cash, pay off a bill etc.

  • Morning all
Thank you for the threads Dusty and Natty.
Hugs Dusty, I feel for you and wish I could offer more than virtual support.
Hope the poorlies are feeling better, hugs good wishes posi vibes sticks and spoons where needed.
Taking a leaf from Elastics book I bought a box down from the attic when up there searching for paints (that DD2 had taken with her it. Turned out, so DH offered some of his war hammer paints as they re the nearest substitute) a box of carp binned, a few bits earmarked for CS box and a carrier bag full of papers recycled and some shredded.
Knitted another little baby cardi, sorted some bits and bobs of bath stuff out - some of those are going to be binned (little oil filled shaped of unknown age!) the mini bathbombs and bubble baths will go in bathroom to be used up ASAP. A bottle of coloured sand can go as well not even sure why that has been kept.
Weird thing yesterday a friend we haven't seen for a while popped round for a visit, and mentioned a mutual friend who neither of us had seen in ages, then the phone rings and it was the mutual friend who been going through an old phone and found our number so was checking we were still here! So phone was passed round to all for virtual visit catch up by everyone. Back to school/work today.
Will try and keep up with lists but still not. Sure how to paste daily lists up on iPad so will just say what I do.
    My weekly list is
    Explorers for DS2
    B12 injection appt fora mil
Go with mil to Drs re the phone call she had about her colesteral level being high.
    DS2 progress evening at school
    Neighbours 60th party to attend
    Mils cleaning
Make start on cross stitch gift needed for April.
Knit some more baby stuff for teacher friend just want to use up another 100grm ball to give her an assortment of cardis, bootees hats and mittens.
That and the lists should keep me busy enough I think!
  • Was up early (for me, 6.15) due to bad dreams I hope I don't keep thinking about it all day, I have a tendency to.
Today's list looks doable for me, will make a start once DD2 has left for school.
Her dad is coming over this morning to take my car to his friend's for a new tyre. He's also bringing DD1 and her boyfriend back from the boyfriend's so they can work on her car. Still having a problem with damp we think it might be the rubber seal around the boot but we now can't get the boot open to check. We're hoping their dad can help (he doesn't know it yet )
Off to finish my yukky fruit tea (3 weeks no coffee) and get dressed

  • Morning all
Mrs MP funny how things happen sometimes.
I need to get organised as a busy week so prioritising will be key.
    First:
    Kitchen rescue
    Send a couple of texts
    shower
    ebay photos
    Raise report and email
    meal plan and shopping list
    order cricket pads
    Visit Mum
    Go to the shops
    find notes for tonight's meeting
Bit of flying or filling the brown bin
    Dinner
    meeting
  • Morning JulieJim, just spotted you're local
He goes to Awesome Walls in Normacot, the staff there are really amazing, my DS1 has been going now on a weekly basis for about 2 years now and is currently working on his level 4, there are 7 levels altogether. They can do kids clubs, several throughout the week, so you can usually find one with a time to suit you, or you can do free climb, and have to do an induction first, if child under 14 and adult has to also do induction.
Right, everyone still in bed, so time for a quick cuppa, feed numerous animals and make a start on house before we all go out.
  • Hi
In again, thank you for all the lists.
Kitchen it is for me today, plus bathroom and bedroom.
    WM is on
    Ironing in a heap Tuesday.
Some time today must have the Musketeers round!! and catch up
  • I'm in - after an absence. Glad to be back!
3 weeks of list and it shows - a stomach bug followed by a cough that will not clear. Half term was basically 2 stints at the charity shop, 2 doctors appointments, 1 dentist appointment followed by 3 house viewings a day of housework, some stress about my creative writing group and a migraine.
Last night DS collapsed in the bathroom. He went all grey and groggy, but seems alright today.
Today is bright, sunny and windy here. Two loads of towels already on the line and first load of bedding in the machine.
Hope all is well with other flyladies. Will be checking in daily. Shout at me on f/b if I don't!
  • I'm in. Thanks for the lists. Will catch up later.
  • Morning all
Woken up to a beautiful sunny day so different from yesterday..
Don't think there will be much in the way of flying today but will post a list in a while more in hope than expectation.
We are off to visit Mr E's parents late morning but need to sort Mr E out with a shower first which tends to take a while as well as getting myself ready.
    Have a great day
    Elastic x x
  • Lovely to see you back CY. I hope your son's okay today.
Lovin' the list, Dusty. I'll have a go at it as well as starting to pimp the place for R's arrival tomorrow.
WM x 1 on despite the weather and carpets dry where they were scrubbed yesterday, so that's a good start.
  • OK so this is what I ought to be doing today...
Trip to tip en route to inlaws
Call at Sainsbobs on way back
Post 1st anniversary card to DS1 and DIL
    Write shopping list for tomorrow
Take chicken out of freezer for lunch tomorrow
Solicitors stuff into bag ready for posting tomorrow
    Clean the kitchen worktops
    Clean hob
Clear stuff from kitchen that doesn't belong
Clean the kitchen sink and drainer
Empty vase of flowers from kitchen and clean vase
    Empty kitchen bins
    Sweep and mop floor
    Change towels and dishcloths
    Clean windowledge
    WM x 1
    HHI & put away
    Change Mr E's bed
    Wash bed linen
Clean and vac in Mr E's room
Continue sorting the loft stuff...nearly there now!!
The first few things are must do's everything else is a maybe.
  • Bathroom floor scrubbed - cats!
    Cat litter sorted
    DW on x2
Girls beds stripped and bedding in WM
Girls carp gathered from front room and deposited back into their room. Nasty shock for them later!
Sofas hoovered (I still say hoover even though it's a dyson), cushions and throws replaced
Started hoovering the front room but DD1 and co have just turned up . . .
  • Morning all,
I'm on a mission today. Didn't get to do much the weekend other than look after people. Carpets got a good steam clean though due to one of the dogs having a poorly tum. I didnt eat till gone 3pm that day. I cleaned up the mess and hubby got the job of lugging the steam cleaner round.
    Jobs for today:
    Vacuum upstairs
    Clean dust upstairs
    Strip and remakethe beds
    Vacuum stairs
    Vacuum downstairs
    Dust clean downstairs
    Steam clean hard floors
    Steam clean bathroom
    Laundry
    Tea
I'm a bit late starting today so I'd best crack on with it.
  • Morning all, will be doing a bit this morning. Have trotted to the shops already this morning after school run and will be back this afternoon dropping some bags at the cs on the way to library story-time for smallest one.
I managed to get a bit done in the garden on saturday - decluttering the brambles - and filled my green bin before it started hailing marbles, which then stayed frozen all day sunday! So in other words I timed in perfectly. I also managed a tip run yesterday - got rid of the poor sad moving light up reindeer that stopped working the christmas before last and some various loft detritus.
  • I'm in although probably making it all up as I go along (nothing new then).
Today I've done a whole lot of pruning as the weather was sunny after what sounded like a very wild windy night. I hate pruning Berberis, they are so viciously spiny. We put a load in 20yrs ago and are gradually removing them; they are pretty but so are lots of other more amenable shrubs! Will shred that lot later if Mr N doesn't beat me to it - his first day back at work and he's meant to be finishing at 2pm; I expect he will be tired.
About to vacuum the bit of floor I've cleared in the office (definitely room of doom), it hasn't seen daylight for ages. Then I can move the couple of things which need to stand there and start sorting the other side. Progress definitely made.
Lunch with a friend at 1pm, garden centre so must not be tempted.
This eve I really want to finish a report to send off tomorrow.
Diary filling up for this week; 4 students at uni tomorrow (after zumba), 2 booked so far on each of Wed & Thurs.
Dusty more virtual hugs for you and your mum.
  • Having a break after 90 mins flat out flying. Does anyone else leave stuff in the car boot after shopping and then have to nip out between showers to get it in a few days later?
I've decided I'm going to make up the futon in my office for R, much as it's easier to pop him in the superking. The reality is it would make me clean my office properly and it's not too bad but could do with a bit of a titivation, and it would save me having to change the superking after one night which is a faff in it's own right anyway.
Mrs Dog's various bits of soggy towels and bedding washed and dried, yoghurt on, something defrosting for tonight's supper, soup planned for tomorrow, office tidied, bedroom tidied, kitchen tidied and floor swept. I just need a bit of break to get my heart rate back to normal.
