A question about : Wedding photographer

Hi everyone

Wondering if anyone could provide recommendations for a wedding photographer in the Belfast area?

I am looking for a photographer for a summer wedding and keen to have recommendations and possible ideas of price ranges that I could expect to pay.

Many thanks

Best answers:

  • Prices will start at Ј1000 for a basic album depending on your needs and the required time of the photographer, if you need them from early morning at the beauty salon until first dance after the meal then expect to pay a bit more.
Every photographer is different in their approach and charging. I recommend attending a few wedding fares to meet them and see samples of their work.
Always go with a registered and insured professional photographer, uncle Bob or sideline Jim with their new Ј500 digital camera will not cut it for what should be one of the most important days of your life.
Have a great wedding day in the summer
  • Thanks Steveymp!
  • Brian Morrison is lovely and has a very nice low key approach, you'd hardly know he was there. I've seen photographers take over on a wedding day and change the tone but he's extremely professional yet manages to make people feel easy. Probably not the cheapest guy around but I'd say well worth the extra money.
  • Take a look at Ten21 photography. A family member used them for their wedding last year. The album looked fantastic. Very modern and relaxed.
    Depends what you're after.

  • I'd recommend Paul Crawford from Glengormley/Ballyrobert direction.
One thing to look out for is who owns the full size images. A lot of photographers won't give you the full resolution images after the wedding, meaning if you want any large pictures you have to go back to the photographer to buy them. Paul Crawford supplied them all on USB.
  • I'm a wedding photographer and every year notice that couples make the following mistakes which are really frustrating for me as a photographer. Most of them are extremely price led, an extra 50 pounds doesn't make a lot of difference if your photographer charges you for additional time at the end of the day. Also prepare like with like as you would in any procurement, when they give you a price for an album are they of the same quality, I frequently get emails asking for a price for a wedding album and no other details, it's a bit like asking for a black car and then choosing on price. I'd ask for album makes, check samples and make sure that they'll deliver on that particular make. How long will it take to see your photos, will they process all of them, I've known a bride who chose her album photos from tiny thumbnails on a contact sheet. How and when will they present the album to you, how many changes can you make to the drafts before they charge you. Are they used to working alongside a videographer and are they able to accommodate each other without argument. Do they offer any sort of engagement or pre wedding shoot, will they visit the church and venue with you to discuss what you would like. Insurance is a huge issue and I'd ask for proof. Extra charges are a real issue, I'd a bride recently with health issues who fell behind schedule by nearly 3 hrs, thankfully it didn't affect the meal but myself the videographer, band, disco and evening reception were delayed by at least 3 hrs, everyone accepted it and no one charged her extra. Best of luck and I'm sure it will go well for you.
