A question about : Water meter

Has anyone received a letter regarding the installation of a water meter in MOD property?, are they compulsory? can you say no?.

Best answers:

  • The water company can compulsorily fit a meter if it wishes but it will not affect you personally as water and sewerage is included in your accommodation charge. In "normal" houses they can only enforce metered charging in certain circumstances.
  • Yes thanks. I was asking out of curiosity for a member of the family who has been notified of an impending installation.
  • MOD sites are run by Severn Trent Water and they pay the bill on behalf of the MOD , this is the case for houses on camp anyway (when the camp isn't supplied by a bulk meter) and the tenant does not own the house, they like every house to be metered.

  • That's as maybe but the fact is that MQ rent includes a water element and water bills are not separately payable by the occupants.
Would they really send 400 separate bills for one MQ patch to DIO/MHS just for one MQ patch. If they just lump it all together in a single bill for that patch then what would be the point of meters as they are effectively using an averaging system per quarter?
  • Maybe if you talked in English i might be able to answer what you are gibber jabbering on about !
