A question about : Washer dryer fault, within warranty but discontinued

Hi all
About 18 months ago I bought a Samsung washer dryer which had a 5 year manufacturers warranty. It has recently developed a fault, leaking all over the floor. An engineer diagnosed the fault but couldn't do anything as the model and all parts are now discontinued.
Samsung called me today, gave me a code and told me to call the original seller (bootskitchenappliances.com) for a replacement. So I called boots gave them the code, they said I can have a washer dryer upto the value of my old one, Ј550. I told them i wanted a machine equal to my current one so…with a 5 year manufacturers warranty, at least 8kg capacity and for it to be white.
This narrowed it down to one machine, a Samsung priced at Ј839 (all other models are grey)
The boots man said I could ask Samsung for this as a replacement. He gave me their number and told me to call when they open in the morning.

Where do I stand with all this? Do they have to give me this model? As it's not my fault they have discontinued a model so soon (it wasn't even an old model at the time of purchase). It's not my fault the only make one white machine and they are the only manufacturers giving a 5 year warranty.
What's the best way to go about this?

Thanks in advance for any help

  • I'd be snatching Samsung's hand off, 18 months use and the same amount back to purchase another model with. You could get this: https://www.bootskitchenappliances.co...ver-29701.aspx not white but it matches the rest of your requirements.
The other Samsung one is a 12Kg one, so no wonder it's so much more than the 8kg linked to above.
Is the colour really that important? - I think it is a minor factor to consider in a washing machine.
  • As above grab the money .
You have had 18 months of use and its a fair offer .
But as said check the warranty as i doubt they are offering new for new in the terms .
