A question about : warning about call

Hi everyone, I would like to warn people about call coming from +1 210-249-0540. Yesterday, I had a call from this number but did not answer as the number was unknown to me and appeared coming from abroad. I goggled it and a lot of people yesterday have received calls from this number. People are saying that there are criminals behind this number saying to people that they are from Microsoft and have ID access to their computer and there is a virus so they can help.
Anyone else had calls from them?

Best answers:

  • been getting for years.
Just tell them to **** off and hang up.
  • Oh these people are fun! There's a thread on here about them, plus lots of youtube videos with computer-savvy people playing along with it to wind them up.
  • i just say "haven't you worked out that we all know it's a scam yet" & put the phone down
  • I had the exact same number ring me Saturday. I didn't answer it but I think its from the USA
  • I've been getting these calls for years now too. They can become quite abusive if you start calling them scammers so now I always say 'I haven't got a computer' This really confuses them and they just hang up
  • I had this the other day and had good fun messing the person about. Do people actually fall for this?
  • I had this call on Friday, I told her I have a macbook and not windows, She kept telling me no?!?!Just hung up after that.
  • must be my time to get these calls again... I have had two in last few days.
The accent was really bad and I said yes I have been having problems with my windows... I have... They are really dirty and have had problems getting to them due to the cupboard in the way. And then asked them what she suggested.
  • Hubby told them he worked for Microsoft and the bloke asked who that was!!!!
  • One of many scams going around, sadly it's the elderly and vulnerable that fall for these kind of scams.
Which makes me grateful my parents are both computer illiterate.
  • Are you sure it wasn't Prince Harry?!

  • My mum had several of these calls last year, and on the last one she sat through their spiel and played along for about 10 minutes whilst they instructed her with what to do on the computer to get rid of the 'virus', telling her that they could see her computer screen and she was doing all the right things. Then at the end of the call before they took any details she told them that they'd wasted their time and she knew they were trying to scam her because her computer wasn't even on. They haven't rung back since
  • A lady at work had a phone call from her husband last night saying that his PC had been locked down by Microsoft and he had paid them money with his debit card to unlock it.!!!
Everyone at work was in a state of utter disbelief and shock
  • I love it when people tell me my PC is infected, and I reply with "but I have a mac" strange how quickly they put the phone down!
People will do anything for quick money!
  • We have an ongoing competition in our house to see how long we can spin them along before they hang up.
Seriously though it must work some of the time or they wouldn't still be doing it.
  • I'm sure you all know, but if you get a call from a number you don't know, go to whocallsme.com and check it. Most of the time you're not alone!
  • I kept one on the phone for 11 minutes once, its quite good fun, I told him all the time I had been tracking his call, I knew his name and location, he hung up lol never ever called back again!
  • I have had a couple of these calls at home and also one at work, but I just put the phone down!
