A question about : Virgin Media Boxes

About to move into a house where the previous owners (well, tenants, but we're buying the house) had Virgin Media so the house has Virgin Media boxes on the walls.

I have a contract with TalTalk in my current house. Not loyal to them at all.

I do not want any sort of paid for TV (Sy or Virgin or anything else)...I simply want broadband, phone line (probably, that's being discussed) and Freeview.

There is a television aerial on the chimney. Not sure if those cables are still available or not.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Best answers:

  • Contract with TT what will it cost you to close the account when you move .
Freeview via a freeview box or Freeview TV from the aerial .
I would get a quote from Virgin first .
  • Virgin calls are quite expensive.
broadband is fast (well during the day)
  • If the new house has an aerial and your currently with TalkTalk you could make enquiries about YouView, as paid for TV packages are only an option, not a requirement. They are almost giving YouView (Freeview) boxes away at the moment.
  • If you want your broadband or landline service from any other source than VM, you will need a BT-based line installing or reconnecting, rather than the current cable line. Cost-from nothing to Ј130.
  • Virgin are by far the best provider. All problems resolved quickly fibre superfast broadband.
We moved and had to change as VM not available in the area. Chose sky as they are the best of a bad bunch and to say they aren't a patch on VM is an understatement
