  • Going to the States in June...does anybody think thats todays rate with crowncurrencyexchange is a good rate to buy dollars with them for delivery in 31-40days...do you think the dollar will rise more or is their other parties who can offer me an instanst delivery similar quote closer to the time??
    Thanks
  • If anybody knew the answer to this they'd be rich! I just bought mine for May last week as the rate seems to be dropping slightly.
  • Yes true....well i guess ill buy them tomorrow at that rate....even if it goes up i reckon it cant to the point where i think "oh shoot, iv jumped the gun"
    Thanks
  • Also going in June and bought as much as I could afford last Friday i think with travelex - got 1.94. Just hope its as good for mid month next month when i get paid again so can get some more!
  • Ive bought my summer dollars thru CCE for May delivery.
  • My dollars arrived this week on the exact day they said. All lovely new coloured notes, not smelly old ones. Exchange rate 5c better than anyone else, which paid for the Universal tickets. Can't fault them. I did the 31-40 day spot rate (small admin charge to pay for that rate), which as of now is 1.9754......Travelex today quotes 1.9223 in comparison.
  • PS They post them Special Delivery, so it doesnt matter where you live.
  • I bought my cash dollars at Thomas Exchange Global last week...rate of 1.97. Travelex will price match them...their rate is 1.95 today, although no charges added though.
  • Ive been buying my dollars now
  • Where are you seeing on travelex a rate of 1.95?
I have just looked and its 1.92?
  • I went to the states last month and didnt buy any dollars, done most of my spending on a post office credit card (no transaction fee) and got dollars from atms on nationwide debit card (again no fees) and the rate I was getting was around 1.98.
I know the dollar may go down, but my point is You are better off using either of the above methods than you are buying dollars.
  • I would buy dollars now who knows what clown will become chancellor.
  • The Nationwide Flex Account and credit card gives commercial exchange rates with no commission when used abroad. I have just applied for both for my trip to the US in July. The exchange rate today is $1.98 and it was $2 a couple of days ago.
  • I have read on another forum that Thomas Cook are doing a special on Travellers Cheques and the TC card until close of buisness this saturday in their shops of $2 to Ј1. Minimum $1,000 If true, this is an excellent rate.
Not advertised on their web site, but ring up one of their branches to confirm
(If this is in the wrong area, mods please move)
  • Could anybody confirm this...
That would be excellent if true
  • would be interested here too
  • Hi just phoned thomas cook , the offer is on until Monday but min spend is Ј1000 not $1000 excellent deal though!! thanks to o.p, Will take a trip there tommorrow for our spends!!
  • oh well, Ј1000 is probably a bit much, as we dont travel til septemeber. Ј500 would have been great though. Dont fancy having Ј1000 worht of TC's lying around.
Anyone know what the dollar is supposed to do over the next few months?
