A question about : Update your CV now

Whether you've been made redundant yet, or are worried it could happen any time, it's a good idea to update your CV now. Not only is it an essential tool when job hunting, it will also remind you what you've achieved in the past, and what skills you possess, which will help maintain your confidence. Also, an excellent book to read is What Colour is Your Parachute? by Richard NBelson Bolles. (Borrow it free from your library although it's worth owning your own copy for permanent reference. . It's a really practical handbook for job seekers and career changers, and if you've been made redundant or are thinking of setting up business on your own, it contains lots of useful information to help you consider your options. .

  • I think it is also very important that we plan ahead.
    There is little point in sticking your head in the sand, what can you do to improve your chances of getting new job if the worst happens?!
    I am focusing on education & gaining management experience while I can, it is extra effort but hopefully it will pay off if the worst happens.
    My local college has a mass of short and long courses that only take an hour or two of your time each week - start investing in yourself!
  • When updating your CV, remember to focus on your achievements, accomplishments and successes more than your responsibilities.
