A question about : Unfair parking ticket.

Last month i bought a chrome towel rail for the bathroom which needed valves. So my wife had an opticians apointment which was near the local DIY store. So we parked at the store as i was going to go in there after the apointment to get the valves. However on returning i had a parking ticket notice on the window. I of course went into the store and asked to speak to the manager. I got told that the parking was managed by a private company and then got a load of slaver from the manager on how i would say that i was going to use the store once i got the ticke! I was furious so tore the ticket up there and then. 30 days later i get a notice through the door saying that they have upped the ticket from Ј60 to Ј85 and if i fail to pay this it goes up to Ј135 then im taken to court and a bayliff may be sent round. What can i do? Any advice anyone? Does it matter that they got the simple detail of the car coulour on the ticket and letter wrong? And they have only given me 7 days to pay up!

  • Do a search on here. The same question gets asked about 20 times a day and the answer is always the same
  • ....which is if it is a ticket from a private company, then it is not enforceable and you don't have to pay. They will chase and threaten you for a while, but eventually they will give up and go away.
  • I've moved this thread to the 'Parking Fines, Tickets and Parking' Board
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. • I've had a ticket binned before because the colour was wrong - Mind you, it was so wrong that you did have to wonder if they were even looking at the car, not a minor difference in description/perception foe to poor light/dirt/manufacturers name etc.
    That would not usually qualify.
