A question about : Underpaid

Hi i am lookinh for some advise. I was sent an email on Friday 14th November at 6.30pm at night from my now former employers saying to me that i was beinh let go and will be given a week in lieu.

I was paid on 21st November my last wages. However i believe it was around Ј400 short. They have either not paid me the week in lieu, or they have not paid me for overtime i had already done.

Normally the company pays on the 31st of the month - however as i was let go they paid me earlier, they said a payslip would be produced at the normal wage time & i should have it sent to me.

Its now the 7th december and i dont have a wage slip to see what they have missed off...

I have asked repeatidly for a payslip: where do i stand regarding this? Im considering getting a lawyer involved, even if it does cost me more than the Ј400 they owe me as its a matter of principle now.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Chris

  • Don't chase good money after bad with a lawyer, even if it was the only option sometimes its better to just let it go.
However, it isn't your only option. I would suggest you look at the small claims court which costs I believe a Ј25 up front fee that can be attached to the claim.
Read up on it and send a letter before action detailing what is owed and that payment is required within 7 working days.
    Then follow it through.
  • Thanks, i have emailed my former employer advising if they dont sort it out i will be using the small claims court
  • make sure you follow up on this by issuing a proper letter before action, via snail mail.
