A question about : Uk assist

I had a call from 'uk assist' last night regarding a car accident in 2010. The driver of the other vehicle has had a personal injury payment and they say anyone in my car can claim aswell even though no one was recorded as being hurt. I challenged this claim culture and the guy said if I didn't claim my insurance company would and that it comes from a government 'pot' so doesn't add to insurance premiums etc. Has anyone come across this before and are they 'uk assistance' which appear a lot in these blogs?

Best answers:

  • Had a similar call today, for an accident in 2009, where the other driver was at fault. A claim was settled for the repair of my car, no one was injured, so I can't understand how more can be claimed. UK Assist gave a similar reply to Trigg and guaranteed me a minimum sum. I became very wary when the guy had no knowledge of the claim nor my car details. Since the call, I cannot find any trace of UK Assist on the internet nor as an active company on the Companies House web site. Sounds a bit iffy to me. Will be talking to them again on Monday.
  • I still get them now from a couple of years ago when someone hit my car and I wasnt even in it.........
  • Comes from a government pot!? Not quite... comes from the fault parties Insurer!
  • I had a call this morning and haven't had an accident they claimed to be representing uk insurance companies soliciting feedback. They said that they understood I had been involved in a minor accident, if you call enough people you will get lucky with this. I'm guessing that if I had said yes then they would have offered me some 'advice' on how to make a claim....
All too common these days surely there must be some kind of regulatory body who monitor this?
  • UK Assist - Sounds like some dodgy backstreet claims management outfit (using a name that's intended to confuse)
  • I do wonder if they are UK Assistance (which is part of RBS) or another company with a name intended to sound similar? Certainly others on here are assuming they are one and the same
  • I've just had a call from them asking to speak to someone who died 8 years ago. When my daughter told them this they then started going on about someone having an accident in the last two years. My daughter passed the phone to me, they told me that I had had an accident in last 2 years and I could claim. I told them that I hadn't. He then told me that the lady who had died had had an accident in the last 2 years, which I told them how could she as she had died 8 years ago. He then started to question how did I know that! I admit I then swore at him and called him a moron. He told me that I was a "Fat F'ing !!!!!" for swearing like that in front of a child my daughter) so I stupidly said that she wasn't a child but an adult and he then started saying "Does she want to come and suck me then?"! Which he kept repeating. I then asked for his supervisor and he put me onto someone else, and when I asked for their address he gave me the address, very smoothly, of Anfield Cemetery.
I want to get their details as I want to put a complaint in to the police about them.
  • UK Assist
Is anyone have they telephone number and address? I want to make a complaint. Thank you
  • we have no privacy anymore everyone has our phone number even if we are ex-directory and haven't given it out, I have only given my landline number to family members and if a company asks for it and they really really need to beable to contact me ( I'm talking life or death situation here ) then I give them my mobile number, but I still get pestered to death by these jokers UK assist and the dreaded energy grant adviser/ Grants Advisory Council / Energy Grant Advisory Service everytime they call themselves something different but all them energy grant advisers phonecall always are from the same place ( I can't can't call them a company because that insults real companys ) I'd love to get my hands on them, they call at weekends and in the evening , I tell you I'm not going to say where I'd shove that phone of theirs if I got my hands on them but I'm sure you all guess where I'd shove it
  • Hi,
We have been plagued by calls about an "accident" we had and have just denied all knowledge and they have hung up previously.
They have now caught the attention of hubby and like previous posts I have read, seem to suggest we can claim money back out of this "government" pot. Just wondered if anyone else can advise if they have had a positive experience or whether it is a scam that we should steer well clear of. The company are UK Assist and any advice would be gratefully received. Many thanks x
  • Brabbersbabe - I am totally gobsmacked what they said to you. There must be a way to complain about it?
  • UK assist are a company in birmingham who repair accident cars. They are based in stechford birmingham and their telephone number is 0121 224 3666
  • I've just taken a call aimed at my partner. When I asked who was calling they said 'UK Assist'. For info, the number they are currently using is 0151 2219676.
  • I've had calls like this on my home phone (just moved there 3 months ago), my parents home and my mobile, its pretty much once a week.
Apparently today I've just had a call on my parent's home from: Richard Jones from UK Assist.
He was calling re my "accident" - apparently he told my dad that he has received a file from Admiral and they need confirmation that I have had or don't want compensation regarding my accident so that they can claim the money on file for profit. They can't do this apparently until I confirm. My dad took his name and number. Apparently his number is 0151 515 0621.
My dad started off saying that I had received loads of calls about this and didnt want anymore and Richard at UK Assist said that insurance brokers must have got hold of the info. Richard has apparently taken me off their automatic dial up system now but said that I can call him back if I want or not if I don't want. He reitterated that he needed me to confirm that I was notified of or received personal compensation "so that Admiral can claim this back as profit if you don't want/ need it".
I had an accident about 2/3 years ago but he was so vague his query could have related to anyone, like the calls I get every darned week. It is exhausting and these people often become quite rude. I feel bad my dad had to deal with this today.
I met someone the other day who'd been involved with this kind of company before. She said they won't take me off their phone lists and my best chance of getting them to do so is to tell them I've never had an accident. I'm doing that going forward & warning my folks to do the same.
Good luck all, lets hope some Court or Ombudsman starts addressing this exhausting situation! Martin, all tips and hints from you also greatly appreciated!
    Cheers
  • i myself received a call from UK assist and they were very friendly to be frank. they told me everything that had happened from where they received my number and how to claim my money back. i am not one for claiming myself but they told me that the third party insurance company had to put money aside for myself by law. i was a bit skeptical but i went through with it and they regularly called me making sure that i am okay. i received the money 7 weeks after the sign up and i bought my grandson a game console as well as a holiday for me and my husband. now i know they have got some bad press and i did question them on that when they gave me a courtesy call and they told me that they were dealing with the issue. i am not to sure what that means but i believe them anyhow. personally i would give them a 10/10 due to how lovely they were to me. if anyone wants to speak to the member of staff i spoke to i can give you the number they phoned me off. hopefully this help others like me. but the on i dealt with is in Manchester and not Birmingham perhaps they are different companies im not to sure
