A question about : TV license refund on monthly payments?

Hi

Just giving myself a New Year financial check up and I was wondering if anyone has previously cancelled their TV license as they no longer watch TV?

I got rid of Sky a few years ago as I never watch it and my TV just sits redundant in the corner of my living room. I have been contemplating getting an Apple TV box but have never got round to it.

I don't have a 'normal' TV aerial on my house, only a Sky dish and I still currently have the Sky box attached to my TV so I can see basic channels if the mood takes me. Well the mood has hardly taken me at all the past year, in fact I have watched no live streamed TV over Christmas at all, which has prompted me to consider getting rid of my TV license.

I pay it by monthly direct debit and I believe that it gets paid in advance. Will I therefore be due a refund if I cancel it?

Best answers:

  • Yes, call them up and cancel and you will get 6 months refunded which you have already paid in advance. I'd also pack away the sky tv box.
