A question about : Transferring contacts, messeages etc from old phone to new

Hello, I have been trying to move content from my old phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace) to the new upgrade (Samsung Galaxy Note 4) but for some reason the old one cannot download Samsung Smart Switch as google is not recognising my password! I know it would have been very easy to move messages, pics etc if the old phone also had the Smart Switch app. What are my options now? I am not technically inclined. Is this something that my provider EE can help me with in store?

Best answers:

  • You can save the contacts to the sim if you're using the same one. Not sure about the messages? Do you have a laptop/desktop which you could download pics to? Or use a flickr type account?
  • Sync everything to your Google account. Restore everything from your Google account on the new phone.
  • you could try downloading the samsung kies software to your pc from: https://samsung-kies.en.softonic.com/
this will allow you to choose what to backup from your old phone and you can then connect your new phone and restore these settings.
when i changed from an iphone to samsung s5 car phone warehouse did this for me in minutes in-store so i'm sure an ee store can do the same or ask in a car phone warehouse if they will do it for you for a small fee?
  • Then do a password reset on your Google account.
  • I have managed to use the app Super backup to back up the contacts and sms to my gmail and also via bluetooth to my new phone. However, the files are in xml and vcf format. It did not automatically update my contact/sms in the new phone. how do i do this? I know the information transferred but i cannot see them on the new phone.
