A question about : Thousands of savers lose millions!!

Crown Currency Exchange appears to have gone belly up, resulting in loads of savers having lost millions of pounds in total - Tabloids take note please.

Best answers:

  • I don't understand. Crown Currency Exchange change currency, they don't have any savers and I can't see any mention of them having gone bust.
  • CCE are having problems - many people will have saved to buy currency, spent their savings and be unaware of these problems.
Yes, I am fully aware that this thread is not strictly about saving, but this problem need as much airing as possible; especially for those poor souls going on a holiday of a lifetime for which they will have saved and ordered currency.

  • I ordered Ј1000 of Euro delivered in the middle of Oct for my trip in Nov...it seems not promising now. I used Martin's travel currency Exchange checker to find the good rate! It showed Crown Currency Exchange the best. Now I know why they offered the best rate!
  • Now I know why I use a Credit Card for currency orders.
But why would anyone deal with a company that offers future dealings ..... but makes no attempt to ringfence customer money?
  • Radio4's Moneybox covered this on their latest edition. They didn't add much to what is already known, but if you want to listen, it's available on the iPlayer, about one minute in.
