A question about : To those selling in these difficult times

Can I ask the average amount of viewings to sale, what sort of offers if any you are recieving?

Best answers:

  • In the last 3 months I have had 2 viewings and no offers
  • In the past six months I have had one viewing and no offers!
  • Oh dear not a promising start then! I have been on three weeks, had my first viewing yesterday, one booked for today and two for monday. Fingers crossed.
Hope you two get some more viewings soon, how is your properties priced, within the market?
  • House on market for 2.5 weeks.
    1 viewing.
    1 offer, Ј1000 below asking
    Higher end of market average.
    Lucky!!
  • That was lucky, well done! I take it you have accepted the offer then! Hope it all goes through smoothly for you. Wasit priced well?
  • 6 weeks in the market, no viewing, no offer
  • Ohhhhhh Minnie, is there anything you can do? Photos, Price?
  • Have just decided to sell my home on barra in outer hebrides and stay on mainland with family about for health reasons, what a time to start selling a home, I dread it.
  • I part exed with Persimmon, they have been marketing it for 2 months and there has been one viewing but the lad that viewed it was just being nosy IMHO, its the cheapest in the area by a few grand because its part ex, Theres one or two that have been on since last year in my postcode and not even dropped the price.
  • On the market 10 months. SSTC three times!
    Reduced 16% overall.
Lost count of viewings now, but about a dozen in last 3 months.
At least 3 couples want to buy; all are on the market too.
Have offer of -5% on table from one of these & have accepted, in principle.
Had cash offer last week from mad person who wanted another 15% off!
Not too excited or bothered about all this, as house is in good location & we don't dislike living here; We'd just prefer to be moving on. If we were younger, we'd certainly be tempted to take the place off the market.
Almost everyone in our area is being realistic about price & mid-range properties have been regularly flagged up as STC/Under offer on Rightmove but, like ours, they keep coming back again! Lack of FTBs & FTBs going wobbly is the biggest problem.
Glad to see some movement in our target relocation areas at last, but we're not in a hurry to buy again now. We have a small, independent income, so we can sit things out, rent where we want etc etc and we've kept somewhere to stash all our stuff in the meantime. We envisage buying in late 2009 or 2010, as going in at the very bottom won't be that important to us.
As you can see we haven't much to grumble about really, except that we originally tried to move in 2002/3, but ended up caring for an elderly relative who took a turn for the worse at that time. It's that relative's inheritance that keeps us afloat now though - swings & roundabouts.
  • My partner and I have both our flats under offer - average about 6 weeks on the market before offers. Offers are between 5-8% under asking price which seems fair. Fingers crossed we actually get to the contract exchange with the whole thing still intact - this is the part that worries me most
  • sstc twice since feb - had several viewings straight away in feb and sold within one week with 5% off asking price - that fell through as couldnt get mortgage and we put house back on in July. this time only had four viewings but luckily have accepted offer about 11% under asking price and fingers crossed its going through. good luck to all of us
  • Had one more viewing booked in, keeping my fingers crossed, Good luck everyone. Its getting through to exchange I worry about.
  • Was priced around Ј2000 Ј3000 above average but (and I guess everyone says this about their property) it is in exceptional condition, was completely 'gutted' by us around 3.5 yrs ago, kept original features, was freshly redecorated prior to putting on market, bespoke kitchen and maybe the clincher windows are clean.
May help that I used to be a carpenter too!
Got contracts through this morning too, hoping to exchange in next week or 2!

  • Been on 8 months..... two viewings in 1st month, no offers, nothing since. Dropped price 15% still nothing ........... Now renting it out
  • Dave that is bad luck, hope it sorts itself out soon for you, its a pain when people pull out. I hope you get some success soon.
Chains seem to be a major problem at the moment.
