A question about : Third Time's a Charm...

Welcome to the new and buffed thread for 2014.

2014 will doubtless have its challenges, boring otherwise, but it will be the year when the focus will be on the good, worthy and true.

Being a huge fan of business-speak, a strangely esoteric language first recorded by anthropologists in the densely populated cubicles of Lower Loadsofdoshandnaeethics and Upper Showmethemoney, I'd like to propose a few BHAGs (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) to get us off and running.

1) Balance the amount of time spend in medical establishments with getting outside and having a decent walk.

2) Enjoy what we have and ensure that we share what we can.

3) Find some structure to the day so that we're making use of time not watching it run through our fingers.

4) Learn to prioritise and don't sweat the small stuff.

It looks like I'll be working far less this year, no idea what the pattern looks like yet so instead of panicking about money I need to accept this as a given and work with what we've got. I do have savings so this isn't a disaster, just a blip on the road to being a better, stronger person.

Having seen the strength of many on here I will try in my way to keep faith and keep going. My life is very blessed and that will be the focus. I'm also going to go for Greying's 3 Good things a day and keep Thread Two here as a virtual sealed pot of good things that have happened. That'll be quite a list as I get through the year. Forgive me in advance, but many will be shallow.

Everyone is welcome on this journey...those with biscuits are doubly so.

Best answers:

  • 1) First time in a year I've had enough hair to cut so went and had it done.
    2) Complete refund for large stationery order made before Christmas. They put their hands up and said we've messed up, keep what we've sent you and lets wipe the slate clean so you do business with us again. Common sense and I will use them again.
    3) Kittens have been visiting the neighbours and putting on their Disney Babies routine. They have been rewarded with lots of treats of chicken and a fan base. Very happy to know they're loved and safe outside the house.
    4) Husky being a bundle of unconditional love and affection.
    5) Unexpected visit from a friend...no hassle, no drama just a lot of laughs.

So to start as I mean to go on....
    3 good things
    1) all the peeps on MSE who are decent and true a set of friends as anyone can hope to find.
    2) for a small girl kitten who is here cuddled in and snoring gently. Last night she was on the old garage roof and I was up a ladder in my pjs.
    3) the NHS. Got to talking to surgeon today. He was offered a $2m dollar a year package to practice in US last year. Chemo is around $150,000 dollars a treatment plan. I get my wholly committed NHS boy and all the drugs I can handle for the price of my stamp. I think that should make me very appreciative.
  • Sneaks in quietly at the back with a late night box of M&S Extremely Chocolately Milk, Dark and White Choccie biccies.
