A question about : Is there a real difference between organic and conventional teas?

I've been looking for answer...

Best answers:

  • Certified organic tea has been grown according organic standards.
What answers are you looking for?
  • Come on, put kettle on. Now are we sitting comfy? Want a cup of tea? Bag or loose! Milk first or last. Do I warm the cup?
One lump or two. And breathe out!
  • Do you mean in regards to taste or quality or something else?
Also, do you mean normal tea or herbal, or any?
I buy Pukka Teas, which are Organic and taste much better than any of the non-organic herbal teas I've had before.
  • I only like fruit or herbal tea rather than actual tea. Taste wise I can not tell the difference between twinnings and organic. Never tried pukka. Those two are nicer though than own brands.
  • The price.
  • Actually, infinitefriend93, all your incessant questions scattered all over the threads of this forum make me wonder whether you are some sort of journalist, or whether you are trying to get info for some research, to write a book, or even if you just get a kick out of asking any old question to get attention.
    What's your real motivation?
  • In that case then, you need the downshift challenge as its known on here. Start with a brand then down shift one in price. So for instance start with Twinnings tea, but instead of that go for shops own brand tea.
You can do this with all sorts of products. When others have done this they end up with about 3 items they can't compromise on.
  • We use a variety of leaf teas and teabags, the most expensive of which is a Darjeeling TGOP (tippy green orange pekoe) which costs Ј2.99 for 125g. That may sound expensive to some, but it actually works out at 25p per pot which serves 4 cups.
We love tea, and it has got to be one of the best value drinks on the planet IMO.
As for organic, then the answer would be no. However I think the OH may have a box of Rooibos organic teabags in the cupboard, only purchased because they were half price.
  • No idea if organic / free trade / shops own etc is best, personal preferences I guess
But I did find the Cornish grown tea at RHS Wisley very nice
  • Hi, we move threads if we think they'll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
  • poundland 100 teabags - 1 p each if fine for me
