A question about : Tesco wrong prices thread part 4

This is a continuation of the original Tesco Wrong Prices thread here as once again it was getting rather long and it was getting very hard to spot the bargains amongst the off topic discussion.

This thread is for only posting incorrect prices that you spot in Tesco's supermarkets. Any discussions on the policy should be put in the Discussion Time thread that you will find here. Thanks title=Smile

Best answers:

  • Tesco Banbury. Today got 2 corn fed chickens wrong price and 2 blocks of value cheese incorrectly priced on product from shelf edge price.
  • Bacon joints STILL mispriced in Worcester (WV) - shelf Ј3.42kg packs Ј3.44kg. I didn't get any but it may be useful to someone else.
  • I know this is a bit off the thread but still regarding Tesco.
to all those who feel guilty or dont want to look for a bargain. about 3 weeks ago Tesco increased all their bottles of Cider in my store by Ј1.00 not much untill you consider they were Ј1.99 or Ј2.13 etc But now Ј2.99 and Ј3.13 or wotever. 50% INCREASE when I queried it with store manager he told me head office put up the price "and his hands were tied on price matching for these items only" straight from head office. Now who has no morals !
NO WONDER TESCO IS THE MOST PROFITABLE RETAILER IN THE U.K. last year I think it worked out about Ј1million profit per store per year based on profit divided by number of stores in Uk. I admit they do make most of that profit abroad. But its still a lot of money per store. So no I never feel guilty.!!
    Keep it up everyone!
  • NEWBIE ALERT!!!
If the price is wrong do you get it for free then?
  • If you are overcharged for an item - ie. if the shelf price is lower than the price you are charged then buy it and go to customer services to tell them you were overcharged. They have a refund and replace policy - if they overcharge you, they give you and refund and you get to keep the item too.
  • Hi,
Having read the entire thread last night, thought I would have a look, as I was popping in to get some other stuff.
Hey Corn-Fed Chickens, on Special Offer Ј2.49/kg instead of Ј2.99/kg, Chicken was marked as Ј2.99, so checked on the scanner and it came up as Ј2.99. Went through till and straight to customer services.
Now stroppy CS adviser pointed out I was not overcharged as the price on the chicken matched the till receipt (they just assume your a thicko!)
Politely pointed out that it said Ј2.49 on shelf and off she went, came back and refunded. Was absolutley bricking myself, fantastic buzz though.
When she came back explained to me why it had happened, apparently offer started today and the chickens had come in yesterday, this is why they were wrong!! (surely you just change the computer!) but hey there you go.
This was at TESCO Extra at Bar Hill, Cambridge.

  • Healthy living Chicken Breasts 7.50kg on packet Ј7.03 per KG on shelf.
  • Weightwatchers Cheese is still mispriced. Should be Ј3.48 per kg, but being charged at Ј3.79 per kg. Picked up three lots today and got it all refunded. Bacon joints still mispriced, too.
  • Question?
If the price you pay instore doesnt match the price specified on the Tesco web site (Price Check), do you also get the refund and goods if you can prove so at Custoner Services?
  • No, you don't
  • Organic Wensleydale and Gammon Joints still mispriced in Huddersfield but it's interesting to note that the packs with the longer sell buy date are priced correctly. Is this the end of these particular items?
  • Tesco's weightwatchers cheese was priced Ј1.18 on the shelf and Ј1.19 on the packet so picked one up as we needed cheese anyway and thought i could get it free.Anyway it went through at Ј1.18...lol
  • Tesco 2kg Unsmoked Prime Gammon Joints - has a label for Ј8.48, and now has a "matching" shelf label which states Ј7.98.
I say matching, because as some people already know, the old label with Ј7.98 may not have had the word "Prime", and this was the get out for CS.
This label was not on the shelf a few days ago!!
Same CS staff, and they weren't fussed. Nice girls actually, one of them even cut out the coupons from the Sun for the free Pot Noodle.
  • Interesting! Wonder if we will see another rash(er) of free bacon?
  • As posted on another thread, something odd happened to me today. I picked up another 3 packs of Weightwatchers cheese (3.48kg on the shelf, 3.79kg on the packs). Duly marched over to CS, who had no problem refunding me. When the lady on CS scanned through the most expensive pack, which had scanned at the till at the label price of Ј2.36, it scanned at Ј2.20. She couldn't explain why the item scanned at the label price (overcharged) at the till, but came up with a different price on the CS system (I'm guessing that was the price at 3.48kg). She refunded me the price I'd been charged, though. According to her, they work on the same system and the barcode should have brought up the same price. She didn't understand it, either. Weird, eh?
  • I think the Cheese Police had been out in my Tesco today. I spotted lots of yellow labels with the price per kg, weight and price on, stuck over this info on the original label.......nothing else...... covering up mistakes??????
  • There are also quite strict rules on the pricing of perishable goods, date codes MUST NOT be obscured or altered in anyway in order to avoid committing a further offence, they must also when permitted to, reprice downwards and not upwards.
  • hi all in tesco's today i found findus chicken & bacon lasagne 400g box
    18p each on a bogof .
    this was in colchester store.
    good luck all.
  • Visited the Blackpool store this evening. They still had a few of the cheeses mispriced. I picked up a couple of Dutch Edam, price on the pack Ј3.69 kg and Ј3.48 on the shelf. CS eventually refunded after trying to fob me off with " I'll give you the difference then". When I pointed to the huge policy behing him, he refunded me saying that very soon the wording on the policy was changing. When I quizzed him further he said that in their recent news letter it stated that if you buy a multiple of items which are wrongly priced, they will soon only refund you for one item.
