A question about : Tesco wine code fail?

As advertised in this week's MSE newsletter: I ordered two cases of wine, value Ј56, from Tesco, inserted code XX6TJP at checkout and expected to see 750 clubcard points as promised. Instead it just showed 56 clubcard points for the purchase and nil promotional points. Am I missing something or is it an invalid code? Deal details below:

Get an extra 750 Clubcard points on orders over Ј50 on two or more cases at Tesco Wine*. Simply insert the code XX6TJP at the checkout before Sun 21 Apr.

Factoring this in, if you buy two cases for just over Ј50 - easily doable, examples below - you're getting the second case effectively free. To help this deal work even better, Tesco's selling some popular cases at big discounts and has 25% off French wines when you buy two cases till Thu 18 Apr.

  • Me too - bought three cases totalling Ј60.48 and only seemed to get 60 pts.
  • I rang Tesco - their advice was to 'wait until the wine is delivered and see if the points appear then'. Hmmm....

    Thanks for the feedback - I've emailed Tesco Wine about it. We tried the code yesterday and again this morning and it added the 750 points at the checkout, so it should have showed up on your order right away.

    We just tried the code again and it's working for us. Tesco Wine also got back in touch to say that there are two reasons why the code might not work...
    1. The Ј50 minimum spend hasn't been met.
    2. There's another coupon code in your basket - you can only use one code at a time. So if you have an old unused coupon code in your basket, or you're trying to use two codes, the 750 points code won't work.
    If you still can't get the code to work and the above points don't apply, please email me on Deborah@moneysavingexpert.com and I'll take a further look into it for you.

  • this code will not work with the current 25% off discount the site is autmatically applying if you buy cases over the value of Ј50 I think ??
  • It worked this morning - right through the initial payment phase where it failed due to issues with Verified by Visa (using 2 different broswers and 2 different credit cards - none of which have given problems)
    Also: the MSE email link indicates it should work (sorry - I can't include links!)

  • I ordered 6 bottles of wine but didn't get the discount as it turns out if you live in Scotland you don't get it. Although it is mentioned on the listing it is covered by the box that says half price so you would have to actually click on the wine itself to open up the full description. Wish I had known, as I could have just got them sent to England as my husband works there. So be warned any Scots on here
  • I 'phoned them as the code wasn't working for me either. I was advised that the maximum number of users/consumers had applied the code, so it is no longer working. Tesco will do nothing about this. They were unable to confirm exactly what was promoted to this web page. Suffice to say I am very disappointed as I had this code a few day ago and planned to redeem it today, not knowing that there was a maximum user number!! Had I used it a few days ago, I may well have received the additional points.
  • I've just called them and they've applied the 750 points manually. Will take about a week to go on.
