A question about : Tesco Vegetables Xmas

Tesco Vegetables available from Tomorrow until after Christmas all priced at 49p
Tesco White Potatoes 2.5Kg
Tesco Carrots 1KG
Tesco Parsnips 500g
Tesco Cauliflower Each
Brussels Sprouts 500G

The spuds are good value, though won't keep. Carrots are cheaper per kg in Aldi. Cauli price sounds good though depends on size.

Best answers:

  • Not bad, thanks for that.
Here though - as Christmas falls on the Thursday - I can GUARANTEE that NONE of the veg. at our Tesco will have dates suitable for use over that period until AFTER the weekend!
And before anyone states the obvious, YES I know that (if stored correctly) veg. could keep way beyond their "dates".
  • I freeze a lot of stuff, even fruit and veg, though guess this time of year. most freezers are bulging with other things.
  • Lovely! We are having our "Sunday Roast" tomorrow!! I think we really have to thank Aldi super Six for this price war
  • Unwashed (dirty)potatoes will keep until the spring, but washed will go off within a week. Can always cook and freeze if you have space.
Morrisons were selling bags of dirty potatoes earlier in 2014 at this price.
  • I have a Tesco voucher for 50p off 2.5kg white potatoes, valid for 2 uses. Free spuds for me hopefully!
  • I don't buy potatoes, I grow them and they keep until the spring, then any left over get steamed then frozen. But a brilliant price whatever.
  • its great they are competing with aldi...well done aldi my hero
  • Cauliflower will be twice that price next week, English growers been harvesting their January crop all last week as the mild weather bought the crop on 4-6 weeks early.
Everything else veg wise will be just a cheap next week.
