A question about : Swapping dirty funds to clean

Is there any advantage in terms of fees in waiting for ii to swap any dirty funds to clean or should I do it myself now?

Best answers:

  • If you do it yourself, you will have to pay Ј10 to sell and Ј10 to buy whereas if II do it there will be no charge?
  • I tried to ask about this but the person I spoke to was quite vague and just kept saying they had thousands of funds to convert.
I have 2 that would need to be converted so will probably just leave it to ii.
  • I switched a couple of mine into clean class using trading commission I wasn't otherwise going to use and spare cash in my account so that I could submit the buy and sell orders on the same day to avoid being out of the market.
You will probably be better off waiting for II to do it if you are going to have to use real money to pay for the trades.
  • But beware of CGT issues. I had two "dirty" funds each of which have made gains (because I have held them for over 10 years) that exceed my CGT allowance for the year. If Iii forced me to convert both in one tax year I would incur significant tax liability.
Like masonic, I've been using "spare" commission credit to sell parts of each fund in a staged process to avoid that.
  • Are they actually converting them all? There is actually no requirement for them to change holdings to clean. Some have taken the commercial decision to do so
    Quote:
  • No CGT concerns if the holdings are in an ISA.
  • I assume as my fund buying only started mid 2014 I will only have bought clean fund classes?
How do you k now what you have?
