A question about : Ssssh... sexy new music tool... please help us test it

Hi folks,

A favour, while we don't want it spreading too far and wide, in a couple of weeks we're due to launch a new tool/MSE site called

www.TuneChecker.com

and we'd love you to play with it and let us know what you think.

Don't want to say too much about it - as the site should be able to speak for itself...

Some things we know need changing
There are still some editorial tweaks to be made on the left hand side - much less text there - and an explanation of how it works.
Some of the results for Tesco and HMV are wrong, but should be sorted by tomorrow morning.
There are a few design tweaks needed e.g. eyes being drawn to the tunechecker top 10 too much not the main tool (also the top 10 only has our own testing results so far, and we've been using the bank charges song for that hence its number 1)
What we want from you.

How easy was it to use?
Do you like it?
Any suggestions?

There is some missing data where different retailers title tracks differently which means the scrape doesn't pick them up. It would be great if you could let us know any of these where they are available on the retailer's site.

Any help gratefully received.

  • Looks pretty cool - I hope it looks at more than just iTunes and other DRM-enabled legal music store sites for a simple reason: not everyone has an iPod/DRM-capable music player.
  • Is that a Christmas no1 here for Martin?
  • a quick look - search bar easy to find and use, but agree it's a bit "busy" at the moment and not so keen on the dark colours. xx ttb
  • I found it very very easy to use , The design is very good , nice and bright and eyecatching .
  • I thought music wasn't you forte Martin?

  • Loving it Martin..Im sure there will be loads of techno people who can give better feedback to the layout and small tweaks but personally as long as it gives me the info in the quickest way possible then it does the job!
  • I love it!
Don't think it's too dark, that just makes the text boxes stand out more.
Once there are more artists on it it'll be fantastic, at the moment it's just mainstream artists isn't it?
One niggle, when you've clicked to view a song or album and then go 'back' it goes back to the top of the menu rather than back to the place where you were so scrolling down for the place where you were can be a little annoying.

  • Have to agree with TomTom on this one, while its very informative and easy to use, the colours are harsh on the eyes...with the white on the edges and dark in the middle.
Great stuff otherwise and can't wait to use it!!! x
  • I think it's a brilliant idea! Works pretty well, but the album I looked for (The Temper Trap - "Conditions") was 50p dearer on Amazon than was advertised on the tune checker
    Other than that though...
I'd definitely use it, cos I download a lot of music, and it's time consuming looking for the cheapest single/album
  • Great idea. However i prefer CD's still. How about one for them, or is there such a site already?
The whole thing looks and feels good though.
  • i like it!!
  • Looks good but as a music pleb - no good cos I never buy music! Always given it as gifts or listen to the radio. But will get OH to have a play!!!!
    Swampy
  • Nice idea, some random feedback:
The red writing in the header draws my eyes to tesco logo @ top.
    Easy to use
  • OOh, I like it. I always automaticaly go to iTunes so this will save a bit. Really easy to use but the only bit I'm not so keen on is the search and results box is a bit too small. Don't know if thats just me tho
  • I like the idea a lot. I've never downloaded anything in my life though! I'll get OH to take a look later too and will feed back his comments.
  • I like it, found it easy to use and quick results too
  • I think the colours are OK but I didn't find the functions to be intuitive.
Perhaps they are to folk who regularly download or file share but Some further explanation of the functions would be welcome.
    Sure it'll be a hit.
