A question about : Snatch Bingo ideas

I absolutely loved the snatch bingo idea that someone suggested on here last year, so did it with my friends and with my family, and they all loved it too.

So, have decided to try and start putting bits by when I see them this year - random O2 Priority Moments gifts being a good example, but I also thought it might be useful to start a thread so any others playing this game or any similar game where one buys tat for presents could post good ideas of things they have seen.

Will try and hunt out original snatch bingo post and put link on here fyi

  • I don't know if this will be appropriate for your friends and family but we have a Crap Christmas Present competition every year. We get together for dinner and those of us who have received something unsuitable present our case as to why our gift is the worst.
The 'winner' that is, the person who received the item voted the worst for the individual gets to choose any of the other items on the table to swap it with. The rest of the items are collected in, some are kept for prizes for games through the year and the rest donated to the charity shop.
The 'crap' presents are not necessarily bad, sometimes they are unsuitable and we have a giggle explaining why. For example: a wife who received a toiletry set from her husband who should know her allergies prevent its use, a vegan who received a box of milk chocolates from her brother, a son who received a football scarf from his father for a team he doesn't support.
It would very much depend on your group of friends. The ones who participate in ours do so light heartedly and it is all good fun. However I could see in not being so with other people. Horses for courses really.
If funds are tight you could also ask people to bring along a wrapped present for the game when they come secret santa style -you may be surprised how much thought and effort your loved ones put into wrapping the most obscure items to look like other things....
  • We play at least 3 'rounds' of this at Christmas/New Year. I also buy bits for it all year round, I try not to get things that will just go in the bin but things that are silly but useful, or edible.
Examples of stuff that we end up with is small make up bits (there is 10 of us who play of varying ages and genders so there is always some swapping after opening the prizes!) hair bobbles, small chocolate bars, tinned food, stationery items, small toiletries, random kitchen items (rubber gloves, washing up brush) smelly candles, joke books, toy cars, the odd scratch card and basically anything else I spot during the year that is cheap and easy to wrap up and has a purpose. A trip into pound land usually helps, we had a box of pint glasses this year and everybody wanted it and kept snatching if off each other!
