A question about : Slimming World support thread 2

As requested, a shiny new thread 😊

Best answers:

  • Wow they locked the old thread fast!
I thought I'd copy over the information about Slimming World from one of the old threads, we seem to have lost it along the way and it's quite useful.
Food Optimising is a plan for life, it is not a quick fix and you should look at weight losses over a period of time. There are no prizes for speed of weight loss.
You need to commit to making changes to the food that you buy and how you cook it, because what you have been doing in the past has not got you to where you want to be.
You cannot use parts of the plan that suit you and forget the rest.
If you are not prepared to make a commitment to change the behaviour that has got you into your current situation then nothing is going to change, and above all things, you need to be honest and accountable for every single mouthful of food that passes your lips.
You need to care enough to take time out to pre-plan your slimming campaign. Look again at the menu plans and see the variety and volume of food you can eat. All you have to lose is the weight.
Slimming World has been successfully helping people lose weight for over forty years, so trust them and read your Food Optimising and Choose Success books again and again.
Food Optimising is easy but life isn't. Losing weight is a battle but you have the battle plan in your food optimising book, your secret weapon is free food, and that, together with your healthy extras and syns add up to a healthy way of eating that can (and should) be a life plan. Success is there waiting for you………go for it!
The Original (Red) and Green plans are still going strong but most people may well have heard of the Extra Easy plan. If you've ever wondered if it works, I promise you it does. If you've ever wondered how it works, just trust the experts at SW, they wouldn't send you on the wrong path.
If you fancy having a go at EE, here are the official 'rules' to ensure that you not only lose weight regularly but get all the nutrition your body needs to function well:-
    Extra Easy:
    1: Choose your Free Food
Anything that's Free Food on Green OR Original - so that's pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, poultry, fish and all the Superfree food - is totally Free on Extra Easy! Yes, you can eat unlimited meat, potatoes and veg, fish, chips and mushy peas, and chicken curry and rice with no measuring, no weighing, no counting - no kidding!
And for super-fast, super healthy results, fill one third of your plate with Superfree Food!
    2: Choose your Healthy Extras
Each day select one Healthy Extra 'a' choice and one Healthy Extra 'b' choice from our simplified list of calcium and fibre-filled foods, including milk, cheese, bread and cereal.
3: Enjoy 5-15 Syns each day
And if the Syn values for Green and Original foods are different on the standard Syns lists, count the lower one!
    -------------------------------------------------------------
If you find your weight loss has slowed down or stopped, check:-
    1. Whether everything you're counting as Free, is Free
    2. Whether you're under-estimating Syn values (over-estimate if guessing)
    3. Whether you're counting everything that should be counted
    4. Whether you're measuring everything that should be measured
    5. Whether you're sabotaging your success in any other way (using SAS logs will help uncover individual long-term self-sabotage patterns) and, if none of these is the culprit, either...........
A: increase the proportion of Superfree Foods to half of your plate
    OR
B: switch to more Speed Foods
And above all, if you follow the plan, any plan, 100% you will lose weight!

  • Hey all! Thought I'd lost you all there!
I am all packed up and ready for my holiday, have to be at the airport at 4am so this is only a quickie, I'm sure I will check back in and see how you're all doing whilst I am sunning myself
I am very very happy to report a loss of 7.5lbs tonight. Was 110% on plan all week, and feel completely ready for my holiday now. I am not going to go too crazy and undo all of my hard work, but I am going to be looking forward to a drink, I had a dry January that ran into February and boy have I missed my wine.
I want to thank you all for being so supportive and encouraging me when I was down. This thread really does lift you and keep you going when things get tough.
Hope everyone is doing well, I will read through the rest of the thread soon and get back up to speed.
  • Ooh my first post in a shiny new thread
I've had to switch to a Free2Go day as munchies struck big style
I had chocolate after lunch, made an SW trifle (just 1 syn for the jelly) after tea, had mayo on my veg, and I've just had 2 lots of Weetabix (that's 4 ) however I've also had loads of fresh rasps (in my trifle) superspeed beans and mushy peas in my mushy pea curry and a peach so hopefully that will help! Boots scales indicated I had gained 1/2 a stone but I'm not panicking as they must be wrong- I honestly don't think 1 Boots Shapers Wholewheat wrap (the only really naughty thing I've had this week) would put 1/2 a stone on me so I don't think they were entirely accurate! Going to try a different branch tomorrow.
    Night all xx
  • well after my sulking 1lb loss yesterday.
    Today was bad
Family problems forced me to ring in sick at work to look after family who are ill, I was phoned at 7.00am to leave here. (their fridge was bare)
I had the peanut bars from s/w which I bought last night, at breakfast I had 1 with a coffee,
    around 11.00am I had another
then around 3.00pm I had another, inbetween I'd had a few cups of coffee.
I classed breakfast as 2, the milk in the coffee I drank I counted as 1, the other 2 as sins 6 each which makes 12.
then around 7 when stuff was sorted I took boiled rice and cola curry to daughters for granddaughters birthday, so that's ok, but I had a small slice of birthday cake, and 2 small vodka cokes...................oh too many syns.
So for the 1st time I've gone over my syns.
back on track tomorrow and hope wed will give me a loss even if it is a 1lb i'll accept it because today was bad.
    nice new thread.
  • Happy Valentines Day everyone.
DH and I not going out to eat today. I have bought minute steak and will make wedges and a salad. For afters DH is getting M&S Dutch apple tart with cream and I will be having a Count on us chocolate mousse (5syns) with strawberries to dip in Well, that is the plan anyway.... there are 2 appletarts in the packet
I also re-discovered M&S mini wholemeal subrolls which used to be a HEb for 2 when I last did SW, they are lovely and only 3 syns each if not using for HE. I had two for my supper last night with ham and cucumber. Put the rest in the freezer cause I could have eaten them all.
What are you all up to today?
  • Great losses lantanna, beanie and Becks
    Becks - have a brilliant holiday x
Mumoftwo - those apple tarts are really nasty, you wouldn't enjoy it as much as the mousse
Chris - i wouldn't worry about yesterday, life sometimes gets in the way of plans, just write it off and get back on plan today.
Trying for a red day again today
B - banana - no time for anything else
    L - chicken salad sandwich(heb), mayo (1), crisps (4.5)
    T - balsamic pork, jacket potato(heb), cheese(hea), salad
S - milk in tea (hea)
Need to look at the recipe ot work out the syns in the balsamic prk, but i'm guessing it won't be many..
    Happy Friday xx

  • Thank you for the new thread, don't post often but read every day .
Am doing it myself and am pleased to report a 7lb loss over 6 weeks. Hoped it would be more but was ill for a week and comfort food won.
Having the weekend off, and will start again Monday
Thank you once again to all posters .
  • Well yesterday was a complete write off! Had a full SW breakfast before leaving for the funeral. Only ate 1/2 sandwich (1 large WM slice of bread) with ham, lettuce & cucumber. Also had a couple of glasses of red.
Didn't get home until nearly 4pm and while I was making a cup of tea for us DH decided to grill some crumpets and presented me with 2 dripping in butter and I was so hungry I ate them (about 14 syns?)!
Had some cooked mince leftover from the previous night so cooked off loads of veg and added to the mince, mashed some potatoes and mad a cottage pie. So again SW friendly.
During the evening I got the munchies, had a fruit split lolly which usually helps when I want something sweet (3); wasn't enough so had a pink 'n' white (2.5). Still not enough so ended up eating a piece of HM flapjack which I'd made for DH's lunch boxes this week. Have just worked out the syns and they are 13 syns each.
I think the total ended up as 42 syns for the day - that's almost 3 days worth of syns!!!
Getting straight back on plan today:
    B - BLT sandwich
L - HM spicy butternut squash soup
D - Steak, SW chips, mushrooms & onions
HEA - milk in tea throughout the day
HEB - 2 slices WM bread
    Syns - 2 glasses of red 12
    Denise
