shareing first class flight

A question about : shareing first class flight

My dear wife as said that if we go to Australia that she will only fly that distance first class only, which is ok by me ! , but during the flight would it be possible to exchange seats for a few hours if i was to go in economy class?, ok im not saying its going to really happen , but can it be possibly done?.

• I guess it would depend on the airline, but not usually allowed, almost certainly not on BA. It has been known to allow people to swap, but only for the whole flight and it's totally at the discretion of the person in charge of cabin crew.
  Airlines would operate 3 or 4 class service on that route, big gap (in many senses) between First and Economy...
• IME no. I've managed to have a 'friend' up to the bar on a flight but not to swap seats.
• I was in business class to florida and the lady next to me swapped with her sister who was in premium economy for half the flight, that was with Lufthansa
• You'll probably get a no I'm afraid. My husband and I planned to swap seats for a whole flight (in my favour!) and they said we could, but no swapping half way through. They didn't stop us though when my 2 year old wouldn't stop screaming for me 2 hours in!!!
  I think I got the short straw, with annoying 2 year old and no sleep in premium while DH and DD got a full 8 hours of sleep in club!

  Generally its a bit of a no no as she'd get her free champagne and you then switch and you get a free champagne. First class can have meals on demand and so you could do the same with food and both get the first class meal etc
  Ultimately if you speak to the stewards nicely they may allow it but it'd be at their discretion
• Couldn't you both just go business class? One economy fare and one first class could be around the same?
  I've seen people asking on flights I've been on and the answer is always no. They have even been told to stop wandering back and forth through to the cabin for a chat!
• A very good friend of mine had a wife who used to insist that she only flew first class when they went away. He was more than happy to fly any class.
  She divorced him last year and because he used to pay for her to go first class on holiday's she negotiated h*ll of a lot more than she really should have done because she was "accustomed" to first class travel etc. She stitched him up first class!
