A question about : Sewage Flood Damage

I have recently been the victim of a flood of sewage waste into my home. The property is a ground floor flat in a block of 12. As far as I know it was the only one affected. It's a new build - I moved in Autumn 2010. The builders have informally at least, acknowledged blame and have replaced all the damaged fixtures and fittings plus a couple of personal belongings. The flood was extensive, requiring 90% of all skirtings, doors, door frames and artchitarves to be replaced. In all I was out of the flat for 5 weeks including the builders Christmas and New Year break, when no work was completed, hence delaying me getting back into the flat. I had to stay in a hotel for 5 nights and was then offered a smaller flat with a few items of my furniture for 'company'.
I discovered the flood the day before my birthday, which I planned to spend with my partner. I then had to cancel the planned Christmas celebration with my 3 children who live with their Mother.
In short, although I have had everything replaced and repainted, I feel I am owed a sum to compensate me for the shock and subsequent aggro factor. I was after all prevented from living in the way I should have been able to by someone else's negligence.
Does anyone have any experience of similar claims being awarded?
