A question about : Setting up a 'new' direct debit with ING
As you will know, this is done by a cheque (for a nominal amount) posted to ING, and they then use the printed details to set up a direct debit from that account.
However this won't happen unless you notify them you are sending your cheque beforehand! I did this with a second bank account and nothing had ocurred.
But the good new is that, since they scan all cheques received, you can phone up later and ask them, and they will retrieve those details and set up a debit - which takes about five more days.
