A question about : seperate mobile phone for comps??
up until today, I only entered the odd comp.
think I have only ever won 2 things, the last prize being a FB comp a few weeks ago, I won a lovely pair of oven gloves with I love pork written on them ( had to write something about Christmas dinner lol)
anyway, I want to give entering competitions a serious go, the thing is, we NEVER answer our landline phone for 2 reasons one, we are never here, plus its mainly cold calls which piddle me off lol.
I don't really want to give me personal mobile number, so I was thinking of buying a cheap PAYG phone with min top up on it, so all spam texts and any potential phone contact can be done via that phone..
is this a good idea?? do you find that you a higher % of spam texts etc when you enter comp loads of comps on a regular basis?
Best answers:
- Lots of people on here do that I personally don't, as I am always around my landline (or at least someone is to take a message).
- THANKS...
after I posted this I remembered that there were some old mobiles in the drawer, so will have to find some chargers, and get a new sim for it...
how do people keep track on how many comps they have entered? do you have a little book or diary and do the gate style mark adding system every time you enter one lol?? - never used my landline and have used my main mobile number for over 4 years of comping. In all that time I've had ONE winning phone call and only about a dozen calls for sales. So I really wouldn't bother with a separate phone, it's just one more thing you have to carry about!!
- I use my personal mobile - I have only had a couple of spam calls on it - I've registered it with tps
- thanks..
Also this afternoon, the catcha code box isn't showing the code? Just a x... its been on a few comps now.. I haven't done anything diff with my computer, do you know what is happening ??
think I will start counting from tomorrow, just out of interest... - I use my regular mobile and have only had a couple of spam calls in the last few years.
I personally dont see the point in carrying around another mobile. I dont see the benefit. You still have to answer it to see if its a winning telephone call so you could do that on your regular phone? Unless i am missing the point.... - I use my regular phone, I get 1 ppi call a week and that's not every week
- I've been comping on and off for around 7 years and have always used my personal mobile number, I get about one nuisance call every fortnight (although I'm conscientious to tick/untick NO contact on online forms)
Definitely not enough spam to warrant having a separate phone in my experience, but horses for courses I guess! - I use a separate mobile for comping and did start getting lots of spammy calls and texts but the sim i was using never needed to be topped up again as it was a really old one that i converted from contract to payg before all the different packages came out.
I have recently changed over to a different payg number as i wanted one that i could also use occasionally so chose a 3 sim on their 321 payg 3p a minute, 2p a text and 1p a MB of data and no need to top up again as it never runs out. - What about a mobile with 2 sims?
