thanks heaps

  • If you're doing it online, on page 3 under where you put in the price, there is a drop down menu titled 'duration'. !You can chose 1, 3, 5, 7 or 10.
In turbolister, in stage 3, the drop down menu is again under the price, next to the tick box for 'private auction'.
    All clear? !
Oh and no, it costs the same as far as I know. I mostly go for 10 day auctions.
  • i don't know as i've mostly only listed for 10 days
hmmm... maybe i'll try a couple of shorter next time and see. i'm also very new at all this though so am just glad to get any bids at all
  • Hi
I generally list for 7 days. But if its a commodity (eg PC memory I will do 1 or 3).
I have been messing around on e-bay now for 8 months and have come to some conclusions.
If you want to sell odds and sods from around the house or rarer items the longer the listing the better.
If you are toying with setting up a business fast turnover is vital and 1 or 3 day listings might be more appropriate.
Time of day is more important than anything (eg baby stuff can have an end time late morning ...mums at home but electronics tend to go better in the evening). I buy some of my best stuff in the States after midnight (pacific time)
Also if you are one of many look at when other listings are finishing and pick a day when you do not have too much competition.
Proper e-bayers will only bid at the last minute anyway. Nebies will chase the price (see baby items).
In the end it is horses for courses and a bit of research or trial and error will give you the answer for your particular item.
    Hope this helps
  • You could set the time for 3 or 5 days and if you get no bids you can increase the time to 7 or 10 days, I have done this before the end of auction, I think it has to be before the last 8 hours or so and it doesn't cost you any extra. You can't change the length of the auction if someone has already bid, just if you have no bidders
  • thanks for the answers - been away :-[ I will now go and search them out!!! and place some 10 day auctions, now I can.....
