Secondary Child's passport?

A question about : Secondary Child's passport?

Hi im not sure if this is in the right category,please do forgive me if it's not as I'm new to the forums area of this site!

Im looking for advice on having a passport issued in my child's name (born 2008) as i am classed as the absent parent,although we have shared access weekends and school holidays.
In recent years i have had to ask for permission to borrow his passport that my ex wife has always held at her property,this has caused trouble with jealousy of the destination i had planned to take my son and sometimes even rejection to taking him away.
I have no issue with her taking him abroad along as i know and have a contact number whilst they are there if i need it,although i never get asked for my authorisation in doing so.

My friend mentioned me getting a passport of my own in his name to keep at my house if such occasion like a trip abroad would arise as a second passport,although i do not know if this is obtainable?

Could anyone in the same situation please shed the light on this situation and help me sort this out once and for all,i cannot go on being refused to spend time with my son on special occasions.

• nope you can't do that. i had 2 for a few months and they were very keen to get the second back.
• No you can't have two passports for your child, and if the mother signed the form as the applicant for the current one you won't even be able to renew without her written permission.

  -NotSuchASmugMarriedNow, we have an official court order for joint access although at the time of the initial passport application this was still being drawn up.
  I have no idea how she obtained the original as I haven't signed any documents of my consent,although I do believe she listed me as 'absent' although I am on my sons birth certificate and has had regular access from days of his birth!
• I'm sure only one parent has to take responsibility for applying for their child's passport - permission from both parents isn't required by the Passport agency.
  My brother applied for his daughter's first passport last month, he has PR, separated from his daughter's mum, and it was processed with no problem. She was also born in 2008.

• Perhaps it's time to go back to court to get it written into the court order.
• It is possible to have more than one British passport but it is only considered for exceptional circumstances. A colleague has two because he does a massive amount of travel and it causes problems when needing to send it off for a visa whilst needing to travel somewhere else plus getting visas/ entry stamps from unfriendly nations (USA/ Cuba, Israel/ most the rest of the middle east etc) etc
  I dont know how difficult it is as I have a second nationality so just deal with the same issue by having two different passports that way.
  Worth at least a phonecall to the passport help line to see if it is something they will consider.
  Of cause, if you have a second nationality or any of your parents did (or potentially further back) then rights for your kid to claim that other nationality and thus a passport would be another avenue to explore.
• A work colleague is in a similar position his ex takes the baby abroad without telling him . He has been told by his solicitor that its classed as abduction as he has not given permission for the trip.
  I believe the solicitor is writing to the mother as she is being seriously difficult.
