A question about : Scotland

If someone moved there, from here.. what could they expect? What would be the biggest changes?

Best answers:

  • Are you thinking of moving to Scotland dippychick?
  • There's a couple of dishonest MP's up there but they hold high office in England - ones the Prime Minister and the other Chancellor of The Exchequer
  • I'm not sure about changes, but don't move until you get a job secure.
My sister and her husband wanted to move to Edinburgh (they live in London). They bought a really great flat just before the economy started going pear-shaped and then started looking for jobs...
... unfortunately nothing showed up for months and months, and they're now renting out the flat and staying in London.
  • A job has been offered. Not me but OH.
I just don't know though. Major upheaval ... and permanent!
  • Depends where in Scotland to be honest, some bits are great, some not so. If you could narrow it down a little possibly?
  • Oh it's orrible in Scotland, you wouldn't catch me up here there, trust me, you are much better off where you are.
  • As G&B says, it would help if you'd say where in Scotland - it's a bit like trying to compare Cornwall and London.
Dammit. You answered while I was posting
Education system VERY different. Legal system somewhat different. NHS care better imho.
  • We have some friends that live near Stirling - Bridge of Allan actually and it is very nice but colder in winter. But you live in the North anyway don't you? You might not notice much difference.
  • I'm an east coaster (though whole family is from the west) so i dont know Clydebank very well.
As Tigsteroonie said the education system is pretty different up here! NHS is better generally.
