A question about : Ryanair safety not approved

Ryanair have not had their safety case approved by the Irish Aviation Authority so they are not allowed to fly.

They submitted their case on Monday and were told it needed to be ammended.

They have been in meetings this afternoon but it has not yet been approved.

Airspace remains open and it is up to them to have the safety case approved.

Anything else they say is garbage. Airspace is not closed.

Best answers:

Last line on the page: "Ryanair sincerely apologises for what we believe are unnecessary flight cancellations."
    From the BBC
    1550:
Ryanair releases a press statement: "Following a direction from the Irish Aviation Authority, Ryanair regrets that we have been forced to cancel all flights to/from Scottish airports for the remainder of the day."
  • So they have been unable to convince the Irish Aviation Authority that the safety regime that they wanted to operate was stringent enough
  • lfc are you talking to yourself
  • MOL being a c*ck in order to whip up free publicity? Never!
  • What ryanair did was quite reckless afaic. They didn't use any proper ash measuring technology, but just flew around for a bit and then saying there were no traces of ash. I guess MOL wants to try to get one over on BA due to what Willie Walsh did last year during the ash problems.
Just another reason why I won't set a foot on a ryanair aircraft voluntarily. Ever.
