A question about : Running Earphones

Hi all, I've recently got into running and am wondering if anyone can recommend a good set of earphones, I'm currently using the hideous ones that came bundled with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3, they aren't loud enough and they always fall out. I'd really like a bluetooth pair but I'm not sure whether they're compatible when I've been looking around online! Any help would me much appreciated, thanks.

Best answers:

  • Any bluetooth headphones should work with the phone.

Ones with over the ear design would be less likely to fall out. I'm not saying get that specific pair but you should look for similar.
  • I use the skullcandy ink'd headphones that are often on offer for Ј5. If you buy these make sure you don't get the ones with the in-line mic, it bounces around and is very annoying.
On running tops you'll often find a loop near the neck hole or just use the tag inside the collar to put the headphone wires through, it stops them pulling up or down.
I've been doing this for a couple of years now and not had any issues.
  • All depends on what your budget is?
  • I love my new Sony headphones. They don't fall out like my Samsung ones!!
  • I use over -ear head phones and they stay on fine. Mind you my running speed is scarcely faster than a walk :-)
  • I have same problem with Samsung standard when running, 50m and 1 has fallen out. I use Phillips shb4000, Ј32 from amazon, bluetooth, and fine when running, bit large but except when i am on treadmill in gym with a mirror, I dont care cos I cant see them.
  • I run with mine on speaker phone, not very load but I hate ear phones. I also find dog walkers etc hear you coming behind them and step out the way or grab hold of the dog to avoid the jumpimg at me. Personal preference I suppose.
  • I hate those in ear ones too, they always fall out!
  • I always liked the Sennheiser CX300s - they are the only ones with an asymmetric cable, so the right ear is behind the neck. It means the Y joint is off to one side and the cable doesn't bounce around nearly so much.
It depends on the running top you wear though too - I had a skin tight base layer, and ran the cable under that, so that too would help stop the bouncing/pulling out.
  • I just have a Ј5 pair of Sony in ear ones that do me fine.
My brother has these creepy looking ones that sort of hook onto the top of your ear.....*shudders*
  • I use normal in ear ones, and loop them around the ear to keep them in. If they do fall out, because they're looped round it doesn't matter as they're easy to fit back in.
  • I bought some phillips wireless ones a couple of months ago and I love them. They sit really well on my head when I run (even over my hat!), sound is great, but the best part is that I can skip songs/increase/decrease sound just by touching it rather than getting my phone out of the bag.
    One of my best buys!
  • I use some JVC HAFX1X ones, they come with different types of rubber things to fit different types of ears.

I was running the Great North Run, and could not hear an ambulance behind me. So..good and bad i guess.
  • I have always loved the behind-ear headphones. Philips do them, I've got those ones. Sennheiser too.
I can never understand why they are not more popular.
  • Sorry - completely ignorant....perhaps someone can help?
Can I use wireless headphones (small, behind ears ones) with ipod nano?
    If so, how?
Absolutely hate the wires tangling all the time.
    Thanks a lot
  • I just use a cheap pair of JVC earphones. Tried all the expensive ones which are supposed to stay in your ear but they never do so not worth paying the extra.
  • Have been using Yurbuds running specific headphones for a while and they completely ROCK! never fall out, good acoustically, rugged and reasonably priced. Currently on Sale....
