I purchased a mobile phone from Argos on friday costing 300 quid and it constantly restarts. I've lost my receipt, but i still have the box and everything to go with it including the item number on the side. So my question is would i be egible for a replacement for a different phone? Thank you for helping

• You need proof of purchase, not necessarily a receipt.Tricky with cash...but I'd imagine that their POS system logs the IMEI no. in some way?
  No you are not entitled to a replacement at all: the retailer can repair, refund or replace at their discretion. Since they'll probably direct you back to the manufacturer anyway, why don't you contact them and ask for advice? If necessary you'll need to send it to them for repair.
• This is the second time I've had to disagree with MacMan today.
  Firstly, Argos as the retailer is responsible if the phone is not working correctly, not the manufacturer. You need to return it to them asap.
  As for your missing receipt; if you still have the box it came in, Argos have their own way of marking the boxes of everything they supply so they will know instantly that they supplied the phone. Without your receipt, they will not give you a refund, but they will give you a replacement.

• If the person, or other members of staff, who served you on Friday remembers you then that would be proof of purchase (effectively)
• I've taken a few things back to argos without receipts - take all the packaging back with the phone, and tell them the day (and maybe approx time) you purchased it. Should be fine. Good luck.

• Argos will check on their system to see if they have a repair option for that item, if not they will ask if you want a replacement or refund, if you chose refund and have no PoP this will be in an Argos Gift Card
