A question about : Refund on Festival Tickets

Hello

Basically recently I bought tickets for Sonisphere but one of the terms and conditions is that they will not grant a refund. Now due to a miscommunication I have ended up with a ticket as a gift as well. And seeing as all my friends who want to go have purchased theirs then I do not know what to do with the spare. Is it legal that I cannot ask for a refund.

I could try and resell it on but that is not allowed either as the ticket is non-transferable. I don't want to profit just don't want to lose Ј225. Also selling tickets would be difficult because the festival does not like it will sell out via official vendors so there is no reason to get it off me anyway.

Any advice on how I could get rid of the spare would be helpful.

Thanks

  • You can certainly ask for a refund, and if you haven't done so already, it's worth speaking to the ticket agent you bought it from. They probably won't waive their terms for an event that's not sold out, but you never know.
Otherwise, you're stuck with either selling it to a friend or selling it on the secondary market. Maybe offer it at a little below face value, to tempt people who would otherwise buy from official outlets.
I would offer it on Twitter, Scarlet Mist and in any Sonisphere / fan forums.
Don't worry about the ticket being non-transferable. In this situation I very much doubt Sonisphere will bother enforcing this. (There's nothing illegal about reselling the ticket, anyway - it's just against Sonisphere's rules.)
  • Neither SOGA nor DSR applies to event tickets so you have to rely on their goodwill.
  • It's extremely unlikely that they'd refund, however the Soni line-up this year looks like it'll mean a sell-out - you may find the secondary market may pay off (you may even come out ahead if you hold your nerve...)
  • I would either try and get someone else to come with you or sell it on ebay or something. They're currently selling at a bit less than their value. But wait a bit and you'll be able to sell it closer to the time, and if it's a sell out, you may get more for it!
I'm going to Sonisphere for the day on the Sunday, I'm looking forward to it!
