A question about : Quidco

As Browntoa requested, I'm starting a new thread here for people who are getting sick of Quidco's evasion tactics.

For new readers of this thread, background information can be found here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...3&goto=newpost

Quidco reps are welcome to post as long as actual definitive answers are given to questions. Answers such as shortly or possibly are not condusive to a polite, respectful thread!

So, again, for the benefit of new readers, I ask the following questions:

1) When the co-op insurance debacle will be resolved and our transactions will validate at the correct amount of Ј70.00? As of now it's still at Ј54.00, and that's considerably longer than the promised 48 hours and pushes the boundry of shortly.

2) How long after it's validated at the correct amount will we have to wait until it's paid to us?

Fenris.

Best answers:

  • I hope you get your cashback before Christmas . I am not joking wish i were.
have a nice day . Its nice to be NICE
  • I know, I know. I tell you, if the whole lot's not in my bank by the end of this month, it's time for Court action! Dunno how far I'll get, but I'm not sitting around twiddling my thumbs waiting for the Quidco to remove theirs from a dark place! Lol!
  • Fenris, if you are serious about.......... https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco/index.jsp
......I would sent a LBA now (asap) giving 14 days to pay. That would take it to the end of the month, or Quidco's payment time.
A Ј10 donation from me if you lose.
Don't bluff though - GOOD LUCK to all.

  • Hi Lynsey,
No, no bluffing. I'm right fed up now! But you're right, a LBA now would be an idea. I was going to give them until the end of the month and then do the LBA, but I could get a head start.
I'm on IS so I don't have to pay Just means I have to go through my local Court, so can't do it online as they need proof of my benefit. So, if I lose, I've only lost the price of a stamp, an envelope and a piece of paper. And a bit of time! Doing some work on the PC today so will knock up a LBA and post it off asap.
  • Send the LBA "signed for" (only abot 75p extra). They may not accept it though, as in the past they haven't. Not your problem, and you would have proof it was sent.
    Lynsey
  • I think quidco will be finding your cashback very soon , may just be in your account as we speak.
    Here hopeing
Good luck . I will match any donation to your fighting fund
  • so is it true to say that despite quidcos promises over a year ago to sort things out that they have failed to do so ie repsond to peoples tickets in a guarnateed time etc
i had my doubts that they would improve things hence why i dont go with them but with topcashback who at least respond and if the merchant doesnt pay up they have paid out of their own pocket to keep said customer happy
  • Hi Kill Bill,
In a nutshell, yep. We've been having a debate in the other thread about this and the upshot is that, despite being asked specific questions several times, either via their own ticket system, or on the MSE forums, Quidco have answered in a very vauge manor. Words such as "shortly", "possibly" etc. etc. have been used on numerous occassions and, as yet, no-one who is owed co-op cashback has any idea of when it'll validate at it's correct rate of Ј70 (just checked, it's still at Ј54!) and how long we'll have to wait until it's paid. I suspect the only definitive answer from Quidco staff would be "eventually... possibly"! Lol!
I assume by the tone of your post that you too have had problems with Quidco in the past?
  • Ive been waiting over 12 months for a Ј7 cashback after a ferry booking and despite the usual responses as above, they still havent paid and have closed the ticket completely
  • I know it seems unfair that you aren't getting the amount you feel your "entitled" to but it does clearly state in theor T&C's that this can and does happen
    6. Although obvious, where for some reason a transaction is reversed, cancelled or denied by a merchant or network you will not receive cash back for that transaction. Where for some reason the value of a transaction or commission amount is modified by a merchant the revised amount will become your entitlement. If a member believes the declined transaction has been reported by the merchant incorrectly they can raise an enquiry though our enquiry system and we will endeavour to return a resolution from the merchant. Please see the FAQ section for more information on why transactions are reversed.
  • @ Amistoso
The problem is it's not small amounts we're talking about. If it were just a few quid I'd cut my losses and be done with it. I'm personally out of pocket to the tune of Ј135; no small amount when you've got only Ј51.45 a week to live on.
And it's not like it's just a handful of people; there are many, many more people not on this forum who are awaiting money. On page 21 of the thread linked to above, you can clearly read that Jules, one of the Quidco reps, states that there are thousands of tickets opened every week!
We've been over this T&C issue several times in the other threads and yes, I agree it's there, but is it fair? We all thought Bank Charges were something we had to put up with until around 2005. Now look at where we are! I don't see how Quidco can hide behind that paragraph; they're offering a service, which we pay for, and then not honouring it. If you paid a gardener to cut your grass and he only did two-thirds of it, you'd not be happy would you? Presumably you'd refuse to pay, or demand that he did the last third. As far as I'm concerend it's the same thing with Quidco; they take a Ј5 fee off their customers, only to honour a few transactions. And it's odd that it's always the larger transactions that aren't being paid. Low value cash is trickling through quite fast, yet most of us are waiting months for the higher value ones to be paid.
At the very least it's false advertising. They advertise that if you buy XYZ you'll get some cashback. When the cashback is not forthcoming, you're left with XYZ that you may not have bought had you not been tempted with the cashback sum. So you've been reeled in, bought the product and are now out of pocket. Can't be right, and no amount of hiding behind a paragraph of T&C's can make it factually or morally correct. The Banks tried that and look where it got them! Lol!
  • Amistoso, who is to say that the T&C's are fair??
Cashback sites are still in the novice stage and I've always been interested in the advertising side of things, ie: what is advertised is what should be paid.
Remember, we have no contract as such with a merchant/retailer etc., only with the cashback site, whichever one it may be.
Would a judge say definitely "yes" that the T&C's are fair??
In truth, no-one really knows until tested.
If anyone is happy to go along with "cashback is just a possibility", that's fine.
Others who believe it should be paid are prepared to fight, fight for what they believe is rightfully theirs.
I'm only talking about genuine tracked transactions.
    Lynsey
  • I disagree. Its nice to get cashback but if you buy something purely to get the cashback as profit then your setting yourself up for a fall. This very site warns you to make sure you get the best deal on anything regardless of cashback. Cashback is a bonus. Sometimes you get. Sometimes you don't. You should try the News Of The World cashback website. They pay you straight away without waiting for the money to be paid. But you only get paid if you have a min of Ј25. Plus they only pay out once a month. You also get much lower cashback. But as long as its tracked they will pay out.
  • I've just asked on the Quidco thread if it would be possible for the affiliate networks to agree that tracked transactions could be paid within a max. 6 month schedule. That would almost guarantee cashback within a reasonable limit.
TBH, it's time for regulation of these sites with guarantees to be put in place.
I would never suggest it happens, but what is to stop "skullduggery"??
    Lynsey
  • playing devils advocate here , think some of the delays in payments are partly due to people (not accusing anyone on here !! ) abusing the sytems at cashback sites. Argos vanished for a while as I believe people were reserving goods to get the cashback and then either not collecting them or returning the goods , if you look now its only for Online purchases. Think the Insurance companies got stung the same way , people buying policies and then cancelling within the 14 day window , paying out cashback on policies that were no longer valid, so they now extend the validation to 90 days or longer and ask for additional checks to be made.
think the bad guys have spoilt it for use good guys
  • What if it's the retailers and not quidco withholding the cashback tho? it does say that if they don't get paid for the transaction then they can't pay you.
It definately isn't 100% guaranteed. You can clearly read the terms and conditions they aren't hidden or confusing in any way. common sense says that sometimes you aint gonna get what you thought you were. It's hardly comparible to the bank charges debacle!!! come on.
