A question about : Quick Quid won't give me bank details so I can set up a standing order...advice pls?

Hello all,

Due to changing personal circumstances & my partner being ill I was unable to pay the last installment of my loan. I straight away did the online 'debt remedy' with Stepchange & this advised a token payment in the short term. I also called Step Change & they agreed this. However....Quick Quid will NOT give me bank a/c/sort codes to pay them-& just said 'it's not their policy'. On further advice from Stepchange I've escalated the e-mail to a complaint & to be passed on to a manager-& have given them 28 days to reply (I'm still getting the automated 'chase' e-mails-which do'nt worry me) or will take this up with the financial Ombudsmen.

Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone know the /ac number & sort code? Trying to sort this out & contacted them before payment was due (it was a direct debit so cancelled this) nut can't get any futher. Any advice?

Best answers:

  • Idiots they gave it tome.if u want can dig out and pm you later?
  • If you could that would be great!
  • I am in exactly the same boat. Pounds to pocket have agreed a Ј30/mth repayment plan but there's no way I'm giving them my new debit card details or direct debit. Can anyone suggest where to go from here, complaints letter maybe?
  • Charmed1318-they refuse point blank -only accepting direct debit authority or a visa debit card.
  • Yes they refuse. I have emailed the ombudsman to see where I stand - I'll post on here if I get a response.
  • ooitsme-I gave them 28 days on an e-mail to them before I contact the Ombudsmen.
  • Pounds to pocket just emailed me to suggest I ask someone else to make payments on my behalf! They aren't budging. The email to the ombudsman was just a general enquiry, we shall see what comes up.
  • Do they accept PayPal? Or get one of those prepaid cards that you top up?
  • What about a prepaid credit card? Use it solely for the purpose of paying debts to these people so that you only load it with money you're prepared for them to take.
  • Did you email paydayhelp@financial-ombudsman.org.uk 0300 123 9 123
  • OP do check any details you receive direct with the lender, with the best intentions in the world.. anyone can PM bank details that could cause you more hassle in the long run
I realise you won't want to know this, but I can remember paying this lender safely covered by the Direct Debit scheme in 2011 - the bank I used was the Halifax and while I refused to provide the long card number of the associated card they stuck to what was agreed on a 4 month plan and I've had absolutely no comeback all these years later (and yep my bank account is still active today and I know of no reasons why they would be worse today then they were back in the day)
Just things I've learn if you chose to pay independent, I'd factor in you'll need to possibly allow more time for processing
  • All of you....may look at a pre-paid card but why should I shell out a fee to buy it (& BTW passport expired so no valid id)-all I want is their bank details to pay them? Step Change have insisted they MUST give me this information. Frustrating.com!
  • Can you please ask StepChange what legal regulation/law or binding set of code of conduct or similar says that they MUST give you those details?
    Thanks
  • Fermi-sorry (& good morning!)-maybe my words are a bit strong-they've said on 3 occaisions there is no reason for them NOT to supply this information as I have accepted there was a problem (before the payment due date & I did inform them) & come up with a solution. Apologies for my 'miss-wording'...a bit 1/2 asleep this am.
  • I'm sure I saw a thread in the last few years where someone got QuickQuid/P2P to back down on this? Can't find it at the present though. :/ Perhaps I misremember.
  • Hi-thanks for that but don't have the ID?
  • Normally i would share your reluctance to share your new card details with a payday lender, especially if it were one of the "fly by night companies", but actually QQ are not that bad to deal with, they now have to adhere to new, stricter, guidelines than they did before.
Instead of concentrating on this issue of not giving you there bank details, have you actually come to an amicable agreement to repay your loan ?
If not, that should be your priority, not this side issue over bank details, when you have agreed a token payment with them, simply send a postal order, or a cheque, if you still have them, i have yet to find a company that will return payment of this nature, rather than accept it.
