A question about : Prolite Energy Systems

Hi
I am trying to trace a current phone number for the above company.
They installed my solar panels 4 years ago and I have had no problems until today when I checked my display unit that shows me how many units my system has generated only to find that it has stopped working.
It just has a continuous red light instead of a flashing red light.
The company is based in Romford Essex and I have tried all the phone numbers I can find and the web page is just blank when you click on it.
Does anyone have any local knowledge of this company? Has it gone bust?
If so, does anybody have any advice on how I can get my system up and running again? Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Without knowing the specifics of your system I can only suggest what we did to fix ours a couple of years ago.
Just like a computer, do a reboot!
Turn it off at the mains so no power to inverter. Leave for at least 30 mins possibly longer and then turn back on.
With ours it reset the system and started working again. I tried it initially just doing the off/on routine and that didn't solve it, the complete power down was needed.
  • Possibly the system somehow got confused with the year-change. I second the reboot suggestion.
  • Thanks for both your replies. I'm going to turn the power off now and see what happens. I think I will leave it off for an hour and then try it.
Will get back to you in a bit!
  • Well, rebooting didn't work for my system unfortunately!
So tomorrow I will phone a couple of local solar companies to see if they can help sort it.
My inverter is completely dead - no lights or anything. In the instruction manual it says that there should be a red light if there is a problem and the reason for the fault should be displayed in the little box on the unit but the whole thing is just dead.
Thank goodness this has happened in the winter and not the height of summer!
  • Just a quick update!
I managed to find a local solar installer who came round to look at the inverter and found that it had failed. Luckily, it was guaranteed for 5 years and it was only 4 years old.
So he helped me to get in touch with the company (originally Chinese, but had been taken over by a German company in the last 4 years) and make an online claim for a replacement inverter. I had a new inverter sent out to me within a week and it was installed today.
Very happy with the inverter company (Zeversolar) and the local installer.
  • Maybe mention on here the installers who helped?
As more people get installs, things will start to fail so it might be useful to others to know who the good guys are?
