A question about : Preserved pension vs full
Can anyone tell me how the pensions are calculated? I presume that, having served 13 years (15 - 2 for the queen) that I will recieve an annual pension of 13/22nds of my final salary?
If I am correct, I would also like to know how the APFS 75 calculated those who had served beyond 22. Was it out of 35ths? I cannot find info anywhere
TIA

- I retired in 2007 after 23 years. I can't help with the current arrangements I'm afraid, but my AFPS 75 pension was calculated on 23/37ths, as 37 years was deemed to be a 'full' career for someone who joined at age 18 with retirement at age 55. Hope this helps.
- But that doesnt make any sense. As a pension for say a Sgt on 32,000 when they leave is around Ј12000. If hes served 22 years - 22/37 of 32000 is 19000
??? - Sorry I get it now. There are pension rates according to rank...Im with it now. Disgreagard this post, all clued up
- Yep, it's the good old 'everyone gets the same regardless' clause; if I'd been pensioned on what I was actually earning when I retired as a WO2 on enhanced rate flying pay, I'd never have to work again! Glad you got it sorted anyway.
