A question about : PPI sold by IFA no longer trading

I was sold PPI on a loan and a credit card by an IFA in 2002. He had his own business which was a trading partner of St James Place. He and his business are no longer trading or regulated but St James Place are. Do I have recourse to SJP for missold PPI by one of their practice partners?

Best answers:

  • SJP required businesses to organise compliance with non FSA/FCA regulations themselves.
This included a requirement to have their own Consumer Credit Licences.
However, as a tied agent selling a St James's Place contract, you MAY find SJP has to answer to FOS if you put in a complaint.
  • The OP needs to check the policy and find out exactly what they bought and the background information. If they think they were mis-sold they should put in a complaint to SJP in the first instance and I am sure they will come back with answers pretty quick if they can avoid any liability or responsibility in this case. At least this will give the OP some info about who was responsible for the sale
