A question about : PPI on loan before 14/01/2005
Hi,
We had a secured loan from Endeavor Personal Finance in 2000, to which a premium of Ј1085 was automatically added because the salesperson told us AFTER we signed the application you have to have insurance on a secured loan and added the premium on the application.
The loan was paid off and completed with no defaults, and the paperwork stored away. Looking at it recently we realised we had been duped into the PPI so i set about tracing it. The PPI insurance was set up with BPC Insurance in Dublin, who transferred it to Hamilton Life in 2003. Hamilton Life was bought by Aviva in 2007, so I went to Aviva with the complaint. Aviva took 10 days to reply, and told me we had a valid claim, but not with them, and to refer it to HSBC because of the insurance underwriters involved. I spoke to HSBC, filled in the claim form and sent the paperwork to them last week. Still awaiting a response.
Will update as it proceeds but just to let people know that PPI on loans before the 14/01/2005 appear to be considered as a valid claim despite the non-regulation of financial institutions at that time.
