Plasterer

A question about : Plasterer

Hi there.

We live in Ballater, Aberdeenshire, and are having difficulty finding a plasterer.

Our house was built in the 1980s, so not any ornate work. It has an open plan layout – kitchen through to dining area through to living area. The work would involve plastering of kitchen walls, plastering an area of the kitchen ceiling (where a wall was taken down), plastering around a fireplace and plastering the gyproc around the living room window.

Every time we find the name of a plasterer, we attempt contacting them. On the occasions where we have managed to contact some, they have agreed to come out for a look, only to not turn up, phone them back, they promise to come out within the next couple of weeks and don't bother. Doesn't bode well if they can't even be bothered to come see the job, so off looking for another.

I know someone I spoke to through something we gave away on Freecycle said they had used some guy from Banchory that was really good, but unfortunately they couldn't remember their name.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone on here could recommend a good, reliable plasterer for us.

Hopefully get one soon as getting totally fed up with the way this house is.

• HI have you tried posting job on the site MYBUILDER.COM. I have used them a few times and you can see a list of recommended workmen and also their ratings for jobs done. I was sceptical of it at first but after using the site it does seem to work. Hope this helps.
