A question about : PIP "Medical re-assessment" when initial PIP award ends ?
Hi all
I was awarded PIP sometime ago, following a medical assessment with Atos, to October 2015.
Assuming my medical condition remains the same, does anyone know if I will need to attend a further medical assessment ?
Many thanks
Best answers:
- It depends!
Less succinctly - they can choose to reassess at any time they wish.
Normally, you would be sent renewal documents some time before the end of the award, and they would then consider your award, possibly calling you to a medical on the result of those documents.
In some extreme cases they may simply extend the award with no contact.
(If you have a degenerative condition).
Due to slow-down in assessments, people have reported receiving renewal papers 12 months before the end of the award.
