A question about : PHS rolling contract

I have googled PHS contracts and come up with various responses, but just wondering if anyone can help with a 3 year rolling contract that has just rolled over for a third time!! Is there any way of getting out of this. I am being told I can cancel but will need to pay the remainder of the contract which doesn't expire until July 2017. Which I find hard to understand as the invoice has only just gone through. If we're stuck then we're stuck, just wondered if there may be a way to get out of this.

Best answers:

  • The only possible way to get out is if they have breached any terms of the contract in terms of notification of the renewal etc or if the contract has any form of break clause.
If they dont then its just a case of negotiating a settlement. Clearly servicing the contract has a cost for them etc and if you do a clean break & pay lump sum now then the number should be lower
  • A family friend who runs a business had a similar situation, and I waded in to help sort it (water cooler, water heater, washrrooms)
Key questions: Are you happy with the service/what they provide?
Why do you want to stop the contract?
Would you still need this service/products from someone else?
In my friends case, she was happy with the service/quality...just the price had basically tripled in the 9 yr period, and she felt ripped off for simply letting the contract to rollover.
In her instance I simply got out all the old contracts, and called in the local rep to show them. She was receiving exactly the same service for triple the money. The Rep was very apologetic and worked with us to resolve the matter. New contract was signed at rate 9yrs ago +5%...which all concerned thought reasonable.
Don't be concerned by sticking to the rollover contract - the Reps have the ability to write new ones/cancel old ones. The Rep is your friend.
Remember its easier for them to keep hold of a customer than try and gain a new one.
